This thread/topic has everything to do with the current state of Halo matchmaking, because it was born as a result of it all.
Yeah, with 343 in charge that’s basically what it’s become to me. I’m no longer pre-ordering Halo 4, and dropping $60, waiting in line, etc. I’m absolutely renting this game first, and if I see -Yoink- resembling anything as idiotic as Armour Lock between now and when the game actually drops, I’ll play the Campaign (to see what’s next for the Chief) and send the -Yoink- right back to Blockbuster in a few days without even touching what’s bound to be an abomination of multiplayer.
After somehow finding a way to get rid of one of the best playlists (Squad Slayer) that Halo: Reach has had to offer, I’ve absolutely lost all faith in 343. And even if these morons were to bring Squad back in the April update, while apologizing for 1,000 characters in a blog, I still don’t feel as if I can trust them to make good decisions toward developing a great multiplayer experience (ie: Halo 4).
They failed to remove Armor Lock, or even keep ONE playlist without it.
They failed to implement the TU in every playlist as it should have been.
They failed to fix Arena, and just completely ignore it.
They completely failed with Bleedthrough.
And they’re still acting like Hostball and Living Derp are where 99% of Reach’s online populace hangs out.
Seriously, do YOU think these idiots are capable of developing a game that won’t be utter trash at this point? I have hope for Halo 4’s Campaign, the continuation of the storyline, but as far as multiplayer goes I’m BEYOND nervous.

100% agree with you man. Their track record not only displays their incompetency in handling Matchmaking but also their poor judgment in implementing meaningful and directed changes.

I hardly consider the addition of the TU settings a step forward. They were going to apply these changes mostly across the board anyways and it was just a matter of time. None of the bigger more significant issues regarding Arena since last April 2011 have been addressed, acknowledged, or even mentioned by 343.
Be happy they at least acknowledge Invasion is in dire need of an update. I’ll be waiting for when they screw that playlist up as well!!!
ummm… Living Dead was updated because most of the Reach population plays it, and i can’t blame them. think about it: zombies in halo has been played since halo 2. halo 3, it was the most played playlist whenever it showed up, and a lot of people play it in Reach. it is fun, whether by yourself or with friends, and who doesn’t love zombies?
it’s one of the better playlist in Reach, while every other playlist is slowly becoming worst. TU is now dying because no bleedthrough and people that loved TU will leave. Team Slayer will be lower than usual now (there cant possibly be that much that like Vanilla). Living Dead will live, it always has and always will.
onto topic: i never doubted 343i, but this update is making me really nervous for halo 4. i expected it to play like Halo 2/3, but instead, it looks like its gonna be another Reach. 343i is changing Reach a little, but keeping it Reach, even TU that played like 2/3 is being drastically changed.
343i, your now making me nervous and doubting you.

Depending on population I may have to play vanilla, and that makes me sad. I’m somewhat mediocre at the game (say 60th percentile), and really need a large population to get a good trueskill match.
Good for you. Now, unlike the rest of you non Halo fans, I’m actually going to buy the game and enjoy what happens next for Master Chief and enjoy a multiplayer experience of Halo once again.
Maybe I’ll encounter you non skilled non fans sometime.

You can’t really blame them. There’s only so much you can do to “fix” Reach. And not everyone will be happy with the changes. You can imagine it must be pretty hard for them.

As a living derp scrub what chance do you think you have? lol @ this kid talking about non skilled when he’s got 500+ games of LD and shotgun as ToD.

They didn’t have to ‘fix’ Reach entirely.
To put it simply, they could have just left Squad Slayer alone, left Derp Slayer with Vanilla settings for all the button mashing Street Fighter scrubs and gone from there. The removal of Squad to make room for a Team Slayer replica was and absolutely idiotic, as well as completely senseless.
Similar to the Living Dead kid above thinking he has a chance vs someone like me.
Halo 4? What’s that? I haven’t heard or seen anything about Halo 4 yet and its already March.
Halo 4 = Myth.
If you couldn’t tell my post was sarcastic and making fun of 343’s non-existent marketing team because all we’ve seen about Halo 4 was the teaser last year and Halo 4 toys.
I have no hope for Halo 4 multiplayer at this point, sheerly based on how they run their forums and the audience they listen to here.
lol at the living dead kids who think they can beat the OP. tisk tisk…
While i am probably going to get H4 at launch, i am not going to fall for the hype like i did with Reach. If it’s anything like said game, i may be skeptical to buy it right away and opt for games that actually reveal something about itself.
For the simple minded, that means i am getting it used if it’s anything like Reach.

Beta’s are a time for fans to say what they want in the final product. And yeah, I would really like a Halo 4 multiplayer beta.
OP I agree with you 100%. I was really hyped for Halo 4 after E3 2011, but now I’m not.
