Halo 4 offense history

I know, another ban thread, right? Well, this is not about the ban itself, but the history tied to an account. See, I was temporarily XP-banned in Halo 4 due to Achievement-boosting. What I want to know: Does this offense remain permanently attached to your Xbox Live account? In other words, will Xbox know 2 years from now that I was banned in Halo 4 in June 2013? If so, that would mean if I repeated the same offense 2 years from now, I would receive an extended ban, right? The thought that one offense in one of my favorite games will follow my account for all eternity chills my bones.

Don’t boost in the future and you’ll have no worries, amigo. Problem solved.

The ban system for Halo 4, Reach and Halo 3 is automated. So if it finds you’re up to no good again, it will look at a stored record for your account to see if you have any prior offenses, if you do then you will have a slightly longer ban than last time.

Eventually, if you keep breaking the rules then you will be permanently banned from Halo 4’s matchmaking or in extreme cases - anything on Halo 4 which uses Xbox LIVE services will be disabled entirely.

Bans from prior games don’t carry over, so you won’t need to worry about it in the future but like mike said, don’t break the rules and you won’t have an issue.

To The Little Moa:

I’m not looking to repeat any offense, all I care about it how the game permanently views my profile.

Look, I have OCD, with a focus on permanent records. I don’t like it, for example, that on PlayStation Network, it shows Welcome Park on my Trophy list, with no way of deleting it (even though it’s at 0%). It’s not the 0% I don’t like, it’s Welcome Park. I don’t want Welcome Park cluttering my list of GAMES.

Anyway, you’ve confirmed what I feared.

Let me ask one more question. I know this will be odd, but I can’t help it. Just try to answer as best you can.

If/when the Halo 4 servers are shut down (which at some point many years from now), will everyone’s stats and offenses go down with it? In other words, if they were to revive the servers once they’ve been shut down, would everyone be SR-1 with offense history?

If that’s too crazy and hypothetical for you, here’s a SLIGHTLY more realistic scenario (although still pretty wild): If the Halo 2 Xbox Live servers were revived (ignoring the insane logistical issues), would everyone’s stats be maintained from before, or would they be reset?

Well, I’m no Moa, but I’ll try and help anyway.

I’m not sure they would keep the data. Likely, the servers had their data wiped and were repurpossed for servers in later games.

Considering Halo 2’s servers were shut down in 2010, it seems reasonable they would be wiped and reinstated for use with Halo: Reach so that they wouldn’t have to make brand new servers etc.

So in short, I doubt that the servers would have any of their prior data. That said, there was an emblem/nametag thing in Reach that was unlocked if you played Halo 2 before it was shut down, so maybe they kept the data.

I doutb it however and it’s more than likely they just recorded if you played the game, but you never know.

Now, don’t look to me for the go to/end all, that’s just my theory.

For absolute clarification, you’d be best sending a tweet off to @HaloWaypoint or @bsangel, heck you could try @hoopsomuah too - he does some stuff relating to stats, etc for Waypoint.

My halo 2 stats are visible on my way point profile, so I’d hope and guess they would follow. Go take a xanax or something bro, just relax

To Krispy Trickles:

Can you provide a link to your Halo 2 stats?

Who cares? Its not like this game is worth getting worked up about

https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/players/krispy%20trickles/career

scroll to the bottom and you can look at stats for all halo games

Yes, I believe if they wiped the servers, your stats would go with them. For Halo 2, they probably just take a snapshot of your stats prior to shutdown and then displayed that for all eternity.

You could also try dropping a PM to bs ange too, although it might take a while to get a reply as she’s usually very busy.

Ok thanks for your help everyone!
