Halo 4: ODST. Will it happen?

Halo 4: ODST

Think about it.

Not going to lie, I would really like this to happen.

I believe it already exists- as Spartan Ops. The way they are talking about Spartan Ops storyline should fill the role that ODST did for Halo 3.

Spartan Ops is pretty much Halo 4 ODST and 343 said that they are trying not to derive from the main story

Oh yeah. That’s true. But I would still thoroughly enjoy another ODST game. One with a similar moody soundtrack, rainy and depressed feel to it. And of course the gameplay would be altered to that of an ODST, not a Spartan IV. But still the same Halo 4 engine, you know. That would be great. Maybe you could play as a squad of ODST’s that are stranded on requiem? It’s a cool idea though…

I can’t imagine that we won’t ever see Buck and Friends in another Halo game. I’d love to get the old ODST crew back together.

I’m betting that Buck becomes a Spartan IV, possibly at least a few others on his squad as well.

I can see an ODST-like game happening that sort of bridges the gap between Halo 3 and 4, kinda like what Halo 3: ODST did with Halo 2 and 3.

Would rather they release it via Spartan Ops. If like this then definitely. Who says Spartan Ops can’t tell an ODST’s story (except for, you know… the tittle… should have thought of that first)

I don’t want to be a Negative Nelly but no. Just. No. ODST was a decent change in pace for the series but in my opinion it wasn’t the best work. Call me old fashioned but a Spartan’s boots are where I prefer my feet to be.

You also have to ask the question of how many ODST’s became S-IV’s. They wanted the best of the best that were adults and the ODST’s and Rangers were that.

I would be all for it with a few conditions:

> Make it as an actual game; don’t start it as an expansion and turn it into a full game at the last minute

> Make ODST’s ODST’s. Don’t give them the power of Spartans like in Halo 3: ODST. In other words, don’t let us jump over cars and beat down Brutes in two or three hits, or run around with turrets.

I would say that a Halo 2 Anniversary is more likely if follows a similar release timeline is followed. A large DLC expansion a year before the next main game releases which if 343 keeps a 3 year schedule will be in 2014 which also happens to coincide with Halo 2s 10 year anniversary which is the only game in the series that will likely need to be upgraded to play on the next gen xbox as I doubt it will be compatible with original xbox games.

So I would say that if another ODST game were to happen it would be with 5 or 6. Don’t get me wrong I love ODST I would just say that a Halo 2 Anniversary is more likely at this point.

O-D-S-T! Yeah through spartan ops I hope (fingers crossed).

I agree. Odst was alot of fun

This. There won’t be a Halo 4: ODST. If there is, come back to this thread and I’ll send you a new iPhone…

Im not the biggest fan of ODST and I’d rather 343i stick to the main story. I’ve been waiting years to hear what happens to Master Chief.

Halo 3: ODST was decently related to the main story of the first trilogy. They could easily directly tie a new one in.

Spartan Ops. Also Halo 3 ODST was about what was happening in Mombassa during Halo 2- Halo 3 era. So the ODST part is unique to that event/events.

ODST only occurred during the events of Halo 2. If they released a new ODST, it could be what the ODST’s did during Halo 3.

Your in luck mt friend ! Im so excited for this new trilogy. But still, ive respected every Halo game and gave them a good amount of time just because they’re apart of HALO. So if there was another ODST game, id buy it and play it and not have anything bad to say.

November 6, my friend! I’m excited too!

That said, I don’t know if I like this mantra of “nothing unrelated to Master Chief and the ‘main struggle’”. If I’m being honest, I do like the Master Chief, and the whole “space opera” thing Halo had going in Combat Evolved through Halo 3… And so with that said, it was kind of weird to see Bungie start to tell smaller stories after 2007. But in the end, I’ve found - oddly - that these side stories have overall resonated with me much more than the trilogy, story-wise. Remember Dirt and The Mona Lisa? Contact: Harvest and Cole Protocol? Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach?

Under 343 Industries’ new policy of “only core content”, none of that kind of content will exist in the Halo universe again… And I’m not sure how to feel about that. Sure, nothing’s really been tied together and that might be detrimental. Yet at the same time, I felt like I had a much better understanding of the Halo universe after reading Evolutions, playing ODST, and just diving in to the “off the beaten path” media. I will miss it sorely.

If another ODST experience can’t exist because of this policy… Curse it!!!
