Halo 4 No Easy Way Out Achievement

So… my wife and I were playing Halo 4 as I’m trying to finish all achievements and what not before the servers sunset at the end of the year, and we were trying to complete “No Easy Way Out”… it’s the last Spartan Ops achievement I need… and we couldn’t get it to pop. I’ve been tracking my progress on True Achievement, and looked at the guide someone had posted… I even went so far as to check the forums and google before we attempted it. We tried 2-3… and could not get it to pop… so… before I ask for thoughts and suggestions, I was going to try and upload the match so someone could point out what we’re doing wrong… but it’s not saving my match… so I’ll just run through what we’ve done…

  1. Yes… we did do it on Heroic. I know it says normal or harder, but I was smart enough to check both the forums and the guide, and since everyone said it won’t pop on normal, we went straight to Heroic.

  2. We killed everything before we activated both towers, then both got power weapons (she got the saw, I got the rocket launcher). We stuck to the high ground (as Obi-Wan taught us). We would jump and hover… We would take out watchers before the knights so they would revive the knights…

  3. We did lose one of the towers, and yes we did die a couple times. Buuuut… according to both the True Achievement guide and what I read in the forums was that you could die and the achievement would still pop. The first time I think we did lose both towers… but times 2-3, I know for a fact we didn’t lose the 2nd one. The dr. guy comes on and tells us to go activate a switch, we didn’t (per the guide and forums) and tried to kill everyone (I saw that’s when the achievement should pop). Even though we did… it still didn’t pop.

Not sure what else to try… I got to the point where I was extremely frustrating and ended up moving on to something else (I do have other achievements both in Halo 4 and in the other legacy Halos to get). The only thing I didn’t try that I read somewhere, was that we were in local party, and some people have suggested going into matchmaking (which of course means no one is on). But maybe that’ll still work if it’s just two of us on the same xbox??? Only thing I can think of… anybody have any other suggestions?? Not sure what else to try unless I try to find some awesome randy’s either in Discord or True Achievements…

It sounds like you have done everything the guides on TA suggest to do. I followed the same steps when I went for the achievement and it unlocked. What I can suggest is you guys either try it in a party of 2 on separate consoles or do it one at a time in a solo game. That seems to be the only difference.

Also, how many more rounds or waves did you play after clearing out the wave that appears when the orange button shows up?

I had an issue with the mcc version of this achievement where 1 knight got stuck out of the map after it spawned. I thought I had killed everything, but he was just chilling on top of the mountain. I was eventually able to aggro it with explosives so I could finish it off.

You may have put this in your original post and I missed it, but after you killed everything, did you go down to the two hills between the generators? I think one of them had a mounted turret if my memory is correct. I had to be standing in that area before the mcc achievement unlocked, so I’m not sure if the H4 version is the same

I don’t know exactly… because it seems that one the defend disappears and i have to go upstairs and activate the thingy… we just got inundated and died a ton!! But i know on at least one occasion we cleared everything out and then activated it. The other time… we made it to the same point… i got frustrated and said “to hell with it and pushed the button”… so I’m not real sure. Might at some point try to solo it and see what happens… not very good at the harder difficulties by myself… but hey… worst i can do it try and see what happens…

I may have… but… what we did was, when they tell us to go down to activate the towers, we cleared all the crawlers out first, she grabbed a saw, i grabbed the rocket launcher and would jump between the two towers. She focused on the watchers, i would take out the nights. We did great the 2nd or 3rd time around… got pretty much everyone cleared, i went to reload and saw the one tower still at 3/4, then we had to go up top to activate the thing, then all hell broke lose… but according to the video guide on TA, it popped for then while the defend marker was still up… so I’m somewhat at a loss…

Don’t worry about dying and play with very aggressive offense. I mean, pick up every explosive, hurl every grenade, jump around, punch, and care only the slightest amount about your shields. You will die a fair amount, but the sheer damage you dish out should make up for that and allow you to save at least one generator. I don’t mean you should mindlessly do the above because you still need to keep thinking about your next move and so on. But, in case you decide to attempt it solo, that’s a good way to do it. I did mine solo on both 360H4 and MCCH4, if it makes any difference.

I’ll probably try that here in the near future… I’m still worried about finishing 152 in H5… plus I have other games to do to. I just figured with what I have left, 4 was a good place to start as a lot of them were kind of easy… until I get to the DLC stuff, and since no one is on anymore… gotta figure out how to get enough people to knock those out…

TrueAchievements is a great place to find a group for achievements  MCC is one of the most-played games (cumulatively speaking), so it’s not terribly hard to find some players who want to get some achievements.

I’ve used TA for achievement tracking and the guides that are posted there, but I just now today was noticing the sessions and I’ll have to check out their forums so when I’m ready, I’ll definitely be going there and checking them out on a regular basis. See… I’m not working on the MCC achievements, I’m trying to finish all the OG halo achievements before they sunset at the end of the year… I also joined the Halo completionist discord where tons of people are talking about them too… so hopefully I can get a bunch (if not all of them) knocked out…

Whoops, sorry about that. I remember now you mentioned you were working on the legacy games… and that we’re in the legacy forums lol. I typed up my bit about MCC a couple of posts ago and that’s what stuck in my head instead. Halo 4 should have enough players wanting to go for it too, especially now that so many people are aware of the upcoming sunset. So, whoever put off unlocking those achievements before will not be so lax anymore haha. Lots of people hesitate to set up a session, so I’m sure you’ll find enough people!

No worries… kinda figured you had MCC on the brain… s’all good. Every time I check some of the online playlists, no one is in them, except for the one slayer gametype… but I’m hoping soon enough that’ll change… but we’ll see…
