Hey guys, a few weeks ago I was the one asking for help with ninja’ing. Now I consider myself to be pretty good at it, so I wanted to share everything I have learned from the forums and from personal experience with you. First, let’s start with the basics.
- First off, unless you consider yourself to be a pro at this stuff, DON’T make your service tag “NNJA” or change your gamertag to " l blahblah ninja l ". It gives away the fact that you could jump over peoples heads at any moment, and they will either avoid you or look for the ninja. (keep the element of surprise)- Know when to do a ninja. Never ever try to do it if the opponent starts to back up, it will not work. For the backwards ninja, never stop moving before you jump back because a skilled player will see what you’re trying to do every time. Never try a 180 ninja unless the opponent is moving towards you. If they’re not sprinting, you can sprint and jump to close the distance, but they have to be moving in your direction at all times. This is obvious, but don’t try ANY ninjas uphill, it will definitely not work, but you are encouraged to do it downhill.- Don’t hunt for ninjas, they will come to you. One metaphor thing that has really helped me a lot is that you need to be like water. Water flows downhill, like a ninja always has an advantage on top of a hill. If you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup. Adjust your movements according to your opponent’s movements. If he charges at you, you simply move up and flow above him. Water flows. You must flow. - Lead your ninjas. It’s kind of like leading shots with a sniper. You have to time your jump according to how fast they are moving and what weapons they have. If they are sprinting at you, walk forward and jump so that by the time you have fully turned around, they are directly underneath you. (jump earlier than you’d think necessary). As I’ve mentioned earlier, you can sprint jump at someone who is walking, but you must make sure that they won’t back up half way through. (this mostly only works on newer players) Also, someone with an overshield is generally more careless than the average player because for the moment they are virtually invincible, so they are prime targets for a ninja. Sword carriers are more tricky. Usually, if you see one, just back up and shoot, but if you’re in a tight spot and have nothing to lose, go for it. I suggest either using the thruster pack for a 180 or finding a corner to run around for a backwards ninja they don’t see coming. - The thruster pack will be your go-to AA, but sometimes, and I stress sometimes, the hologram is viable. Just send it out as you jump, and hopefully they fall for it. The thruster pack ninja is an art all ninjas should learn to master. My best tip for 180 TP ninjas is that if the opponent is charging at you, don’t run towards them, but just jump and thrust when you estimate they are at the exact point where the thruster pack will drop you. (get to know the range of the TP) So if the TP sends you 10 feet, you’re going to thrust went they are at about 10-11 feet away (maybe further if they are sprinting) - Let’s talk controls. I use “Bumper Jumper” as my control setting because it allows you to jump, turn, and melee at the same time, but you can use any setting to ninja, Bumper Jumper is simply the most efficient. As for sensitivity, you’re definitely going to want a very high one, if not ten. But don’t jump straight to ten, start at six and play a few games, the seven and play a few, and so on and so forth. It will be hard to use precision weapons at first, but you’ll get used to it.- Where to ninja. It is definitely a benefit to be on a hill, but it’s obviously not required. NO UPHILL NINJAS THOUGH. That’s illegal. Anyway, someone coming up a lift is an easy target. When you hear the sound the lift makes when someone goes up, say “double” and then jump and turn. Works for me almost every time (always got those donkeys who go up the lift sideways). You probably shouldn’t go for the assassination if the opponent has teammates around, so if you’re looking for multi-ninjas, just go for the backsmack until the last guy. This can be achieved by tapping the melee button quickly instead of fully pressing it.- Backwards ninjas. The classic bait and punch in the back. This can be achieved by tricking someone into thinking you are completely oblivious to their presence and simply jumping backwards over their head as they go for the assassination. It’s easiest to do with the aid of the thruster pack. Watch the radar. When the red dot hits the innermost circle, jump and thrust backwards for the kill. Also, this type of ninja can be done after running around a corner or wall. As they round the corner, jump backwards into the hall or door way and they will never have seen a thing (except for you teabagging their dead body lol. No but don’t -Yoink!-.).- Stay in the right state of mind. If someone airsassinates you as you try to ninja them or you yourself get ninja’d, shake it off, say good job. Just forget about it, no need to get mad, you’ll be out wrecking more scrubs in no time. You will play 10 times better if you’re happy and joking around. Someone actually 360 ninja’d me and was super happy about it, telling all his friends in the lobby, so I messaged him and told him good job. I was left feeling much more satisfied with my achievements.- If you’re just starting out and need a playlist you can get a lot of ninjas on, do Big Team Battle. There are 8 opposing players to ninja at any given time and there are always a lot of guests and newbies in that playlist to test your skills on. The other day I was playing BTB on vortex and I was just hanging out near Wind Tunnel and this one guy in Venator armor just kept returning there to challenge me, and every single time I assassinated him. I have no idea why he kept coming. I hope this helps any ninjas-in-training looking to sharpen their skills. I made this because I noticed a lack of people sharing true knowledge and help with new ninjas. Feel free to correct or add to anything you may think to be inaccurate in my post, I just want to help
And a shoutout to all the people who have helped me and to all the people I have ninja’d. One more thing btw… PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.
