Halo 4 Networking **Lag**

343 are you ever going to do anything about your broken Halo 4 Network? So far i have bought the Halo 4 Console, Limited Edition game only to be face with a disgusting online network. Then I go to spend more money for fancy internet with great speeds, and still get the same crap? What is the point of spending all that money in return for 5% joy and 95% Anger, Frustration, and just all things negative? I can’t get my money back in full and it isn’t fair that I basically gave you my money in return for absolutely nothing. 19 Hours of Single Player time means zero compared to 12 Days of Match Making time on a broken game. To not play the game would mean I just gave you money, not exchanged money for a working product. So if you can make proper use of my $510 dollars then that would be fan-f-ucking-tastic. Better yet if an employee is willing to give me $510 dollars in full I would gladly send him or her my Halo 4 Xbox 360 & Limited Edition Game with all it includes minus the digital crap I already used.

I feel your pain and there are tonnes of other posts on multiple forums on this:

Unfortunately, our pleas/ threats /taunts / comments / screaming fits are falling on deaf ears. 343 has our money, and simply could care less that the game plays like crap online compared to other titles.

Since it’s been almost 10 months since release and they have done ZERO to solve the basic Host / Filter optiosn issyes issues - it’s pretty well a given that this done and we are all wasting our time.

And if this is how 343 treats us, I won’t be spending $620 buying an XBox One for H5, because it shows they have zero clues on basic game issues - and then refuse to fix them. This chart of peak users since launch:

http://halocharts.com/2013/playlists_halo4.php

speaks volumes about how broken H4 is - considering they lost 160,000 online multiplayer (almost 50%) in the first week and now are barely beating Halo Reach (which is what I play now for BTB Halo multiplayer now cause it doesn’t lag like H4 does) for daily peak population.

Its impossible to fix without a whole re-release and even then the 360s hardware li its would make a re-release totally pointless and the game is fine for me 95% of the time.

Plus why would you complain about getting better internet it doesnt cost that much more besides it helps you with more than just halo?

They cant fix half the problems people keep flaming for due to hardware limits since they maxed everything out almost everything. If people would stop being ignorant and think why they havnt done it considering how much else they’ve done to support the game, they will realise that they cant fix it.

What are you talking about? They could fix almost evrything, but they are too lazy.
PS: They lied when they said that CSR couldn’t be made visible in-game due to UI limitation. They just wanted to stop boosters and account sellers.

343 are certainly not lazy and have you any idea what your asking for? They cant alter the netwirk connection withlut a full re-release plus its due to hardware limits. Do some research before questioning the truth.

Shut down servers den… And stop killing halo fan population… And 343 don’t do a MP in halo 5… It is easy…

Your not reading anything I have said.

Matching players up does not require changes to the game code. It requires changes to the servers that select what players get put in what match. Same thing applies to selecting the host too.

So neither of these changes require the game code or GUI to change and 343 doesn’t have to re-engineer the game or relase a TU. It also has NOTHING to do with maxed out hardware either.

And if they wanted to add in user selectable filters like “Best Connection”, “Local Only” that users can toggle on or off, 343 could do this without changing the game GUI code. Basically you log into your WayPoint account (as we have done to post a message), click on “Career” tab and then 343 adds a web page named “H4 settings” with a couple of checkboxes to turn on off filters like “Best Connection”, “Local Only”, “No JIP” etc. Your choices are sent to the game set up server and are applied the next time you start a H4 War game.

So this is how they can fix the crippling Lag issues. The question is why are they not doing it?

??? What has that got to do with halo 4’s lag?

The 360 has a limited upload and download speed. Halo 4 has a lot more data to transfer than the past games with the imoroved graphics etc. so they added things to stop lag and frame rate issues such as faster despawn times etc. since they’ve almost overloaded the multiplayer it will be laggy if you play with people accross the world. So without re-engineering the entire game to fix the issue which your solution does not (see below) its impossible to fix plus that along with people having not as good internet as is required which isnt that much it lags. I rarely encounter lag even with me playing from people on the other end of the world.

Your solution is better SEARCH FILTERS this only alters the search parameters and does not imorove the general connection of each game. This only allows you to search for certain matches within the paremeters. Halo 4 tries to search for local players and good connection matches first before they expand the search so there would be no improvement there. JIP option woukd be nice but they could keave that till the next game and leave it alone since despite it being hated by almost everyone it quickens seacrh times and allows you to join some local games with better connection than if it wasnt there.

The amount of time 343 devotes to this game shows that they would of i orived the connection if possible and the best solution for you to do is not use yoink internet and get fibre optic or at least something better if you can afford it.

i also did read your post that is why I responded explaining why.

Lol, OP thinks the only thing that matters for connection quality is your DL speeds.

Think you’d better be served brushing up on network basics. For example, I have a very basic cable package with average DL speeds on a quality ISP hooked up in a quality environment and I have no issues. Most stable 360 game I’ve played so far.

My solution to fix the freaking way they select host - which is “Host History” versus measuring and selecting the best host (ping, upload and download rates) for a match AND filters. “Best Connection” Filter work wonderfully for Reach and thats with less than 1000 people in the BTB lobby.

As I said before my internet connection is not an issue. It’s ADSL, single user, iTV off, Ethernet direct connection from Xbox, measured ping of 7 ms to server, measured ping times across North America of < 100 ms, 50 Mbps download and 11 Mbps upload. I played Halo Reach, COD II and GTA IV last night multiplayer and none of them lagged like H4 does 70% of the time.

And you do realize how lame your argument sounds that they overloaded the Xbox 360 transfer rates, right? A company with brains doesn’t ship a product that exceeds the capacity of the platform it runs on - that’s is just idiotic and a sure way to deliver a prodcut that will disappoint and frustrate the bulk of your customers (I’m a 20+ years software developer working largely in imaging, medical and space sciences - so I do have some experience with this).
