—For those who have already read the thread—
-Are you seriously implying that because I say to make these changes that it’ll be just like Halo 3? The ZB gametypes and reduced bloom gametypes already MADE most of these changes, so are you therefore saying that those playlists in Reach are EXACTLY like Halo 3? No. Come on people, this is a simple concept… As for the maps section… Anniversary maps are remakes, yes, but they also have new additions. Halo 3 had like 5 good maps, a few of which were spiritual remakes as well. Don’t let nostalgia sway your thinking here… Halo 3 was far from the “near-flawless” game you people are making it seem like…
======================================================
You heard it right. Halo 4 needs to be more like Reach than 3. The reason I say this is simple:
What are most of the things people complain about in Reach?
-No ranking system - Easy fix, bring it back.
-Slower movement speed - People complained about Halo 3’s movement speed too so easy fix, make it faster.
-Lower jump height - Easy fix, increase it.
-Bloom - Have you PLAYED the zero bloom playlists? Simple fix.
-Weak vehicle health - Halo 3 vehicles had more UMPHH - Easy fix, give more health.
-Maps - Halo 3 had CRAP maps. The Anniversary maps blow away 95% of Halo 3 maps.
-AA’s - Halo 3 equipment was hated… AA’s are way better as pick-ups.
If I missed something, please share.
Now, with the obvious tweaks, Halo Reach can be the best Halo game of them all. People let THESE EASILY-FIXABLE tweaks RUIN what a great game Reach actually is. At its core, Reach has more useful weapons than Halo 2 and Halo 3. Reach has better core mechanics than Halo 2 and Halo 3.
Overall, Reach is the far superior game than both Halo 2 and Halo 3, but some of the easily fixable gameplay tweaks are what ruin the image of Reach. Gameplay-wise… once bloom was reduced to 85% or even removed completely, the game played MUCH better. How can you people forget all those frustrating times and stale battles of long range BR fights? Halo 3 was such an inconsistent mess and Halo 2 was literally a game of only BR + power weapon.
The reason I didn’t mention Halo 1 was because obviously that game is the best competitively, but that’s for a whole 'nother discussion. The CORE gameplay mechanics though shouldn’t be changed much from Reach, but everything should be overpowered. Every automatic weapon should be increased in all areas. The rifle-precision weapons should stay large the same though and some minor tweaks here and there should be changed.
Other than that, give us a better color palette akin to Halo Anniversary and the aforementioned tweaks and I’m sure people would go BANANAS!
Agreed? Agreed. See the truth here people. Don’t be sheep.
Right below is a thread I’ve made that is a comprehensive compilation of each Halo’s greatest aspects and I’m baffled as to why people love to post in troll threads and threads that say the same crap over and over instead of something useful…

-----EDIT-----
You people are misconstruing what I’m saying here…
I said it should be more like Reach than it would be like Halo 3… That’s NOT to say it should feel more like a newer/refined version of Halo.
Halo “Vanilla” Reach may run a little slower and jump a little lower than Halo 3, but the game was faster overall. Once they increased the movement speed and jump height, the game played more fluid and consistent than Halo 3 ever did…
So to all you who said to make the tweaks I suggested, you really think that will make Halo Reach like Halo 3? No. The CORE GAMEPLAY MECHANICS is what differentiates each Halo game from another, NOT the simple stuff that can change.
Did anyone here play Halo 1 competitively for 3 years then make the jump to Halo 2? The games almost felt like 100% differently. What I’m saying here is that AT ITS CORE, Halo Reach is a superior and more fluid/consistent game than Halo 3 ever was and Halo 4 needs to follow that trend as such.
In every range, Halo Reach’s gameplay with reduced bloom and even ZB is more consistent than Halo 3. Why do you think Standoff was so unbearable? It wasn’t the Spartan Laser… It was the inconsistent BR. Why do you think long range battles were so frustrating? The BR. Halo Reach added more POWER to the weapons in every range and made things more consistent. It’s extremely shocking to me how quickly people forget how frustrating Halo 3 played… Truly the only unblinded “nostalgic” people are the ones who’ve been playing Halo 1 competitively since day one and on Xbox Connect. If you don’t even know what that is then you’re DEFINITELY not one of those people ;]
The main theme here is POWER and CONSISTENCY. Halo Reach was the step in the right direction with both of these and anyone who says otherwise obviously didn’t play the same game I did (Halo 3), but fell back on some other aspects that should’ve been standard and what we’ve been asking for ever since the drastic change from Halo 1 to Halo 2 and in some cases Halo 2 to Halo 3:
-Power.
-Consistency.
-Faster overall gameplay.
