Halo 4 Needs To Be Machinima Friendly

Hey guys

Im not really a Machinima creator but I really do enjoy watching them. And this post is just my way in which we can make Manchinimas more easy to make and friendly in Halo 4.

Let me explain,

Weapon Lowering:

Some Machinima Directors do not really know the trick on how to lower thier weapons and i think we need an option in which the character models automatically lower thier weapons. In Custom Games this would not apply, it will only be in forge, this means that when a player starts a new game in Forge their character automatically has thier weapon lowered and raise it when they are firing. I think this should also been shown in First Person too as in Machinimas this would be an amazing prospect.

Falcons, Pelicans and Phantoms:

AS we all know, most Machinimas have a scene which shows the Spartans or Elites being dropped off to some unknown location. And usually the spartans have two or three Falcons with some Spartan character on the Side Mounted Turrets. But the Falcon has the seats in the back with nobody using them. So I sometimes think ‘Why Didnt Bungie make these seats accessable?’ So i think in Halo 4 (if the falcon returns) we should be able to take advantage of these seats and make them accessable (Only in Forge).

If we do see the Elites return in Halo 4, Machinma Directors are gonna take full advantage of the Models in Multiplayer and put them in their Machinima. So another option on Forge would be to spawn the Phantom (cargo doors open) which can seats a Pilot and Troops in cargo hold to give Machinmas that massive war feel. This also applys with a Pelican for the Spartans, cargo door open and accessable seats for the Spartan Characters.

Forge Buildings:

It was nice to have some UNSC and Covenant objects to forge with in Halo 3 and Halo Reach, but i think this can be expanded way more in Halo 4. Let me explain…

If we do see the Legendary Forge return in Halo 4 then its gonna have to contain something really big to give Halo fans that big “WOW!”, and I think i know how we can do this. Forge should give the player an option to forge objects such as Barracks, garages, Helipads, Sniper Posts, UNSC bunkers and many more. Same for the Covenant side too as they could have Objects such as Sniper Nests, Command centres, those Grunt Methane container from Halo Reach…etc.

Not only would this give Machinmas a great feel when watching them. But Invasion gametypes or Infection Gametypes will feel so amazing. I can actually think of playing an Invasion gametype on a Forged Map and storming the UNSC base to capture the Core, it will just feel amazing.

lol i agree, it gets annoying to have to film with 3 guests to do a small scene were everyone has their weapons lowered and i agree with the elite thing more so because i am an elite player myself, but also because of machinima purpose

So you can lower your weapons over live so you don’t have to do it on one console and can have more people

I do like the sound of more developed forge pieces and big vehicles, but I don’t like the justification “for machinima.”

Even to be generous machinima is a niche interest in the Halo community. It has had a few notable success stories but beyond that it’s a largely unfulfilled interest which hasn’t given much to the overall quality of the game. If anything it represents what creative people can do with largely uncreative things and for that reason it shouldn’t be favored any more than it has been with saved films and forge because then you get away from what makes machinima special in the first place.

Now I can’t see the harm in weapon lowering in forge, but beyond that we have to draw the line (if anything than just in order to keep the soul of the art form alive.)

We should have the ability to do Theatric Forge as a gametype, where teams are made, but the players retain their original colors as if it were Free For All. Guest players should be given the armor options of whoever is their host, but only in Theatric Forge. All players should be able to pull up a menu and select a new weapon, that they don’t have to pickup but replaces their 1st or 2nd. The “Director” should have options like the ability to, after starting “Recording”, choose to reset to how the map was before the Recording started, like new rounds. Spawn Points, Zones, Objectives, etc. should have an option to not show up in Recording sessions.

Anyone agree?

How about a machinima mode were all armor is unlocked for that lobby and other stuff to like weapon lowering.

I think Halo 4 Theater should also be Machinima friendly. And there are also a few buttons that aren’t being used for anythign on the D-Pad have on of those buttons to lower weapons easily.

I don’t mind watching a few Machinima now and again, but I don’t think 343i should focus on making some features of the game focus around them. The reason why I think some Machinima were successful was due to what the community made from what they had and the effort they put into making them. Admittedly a more developed Forge with greater content within it would be welcomed with open arms along with the content the community makes from it.
Now I know 343i is very supportive towards Machinima’s along with other content. But they should just put effort into making a Halo Tittle and we the community make our own creations whether its Machinima’s or just maps from what we have been given.
I don’t like the idea of Machinima’s being the main concept towards Halo 4’s development.

i agree… with emphasis on “elites in multiplayer”
