Halo 4 NEEDS sprint

Sorry to say this, but alot of people here want halo 4 to just be halo 3.5 unfortunately, this IMO should NOT happen.

Halo 4 needs sprint to speed up gameplay, i just played Halo 3 recently and holy crap it was mind-numbing just trying to get from one place to another in BTB. Halo 4 NEEDS Sprint to speed up gameplay.

Everyone in this forum is so close minded when it comes to innovation.

if something is proposed, something basic like being able to have a quick burst of speed to move from cover to cover instead of trying to find ways this could work and not be detrimental all you will get is;

NOPE NO AA IN HALO 4, WE WANT HALO BACK

I shall respond to that by saying no you dont, you want a re-skinned halo 2 or 3,

The series needs to add and innovate, not rehash the same again and again, you might say;

“Well if it aint broke dont fix it”

Fine, dont innovate, keep rehashing the same thing again and again, you’ll see it will become stale, and the frachise will die,

All I asked was how to implement Sprint into 4 as it is custom for shooters to now have that basic function, but ignorant people FROM ANY SIDE will obviously destroy any discussion.

I came from the Reach forums, both sides saying

“Reach is fine and doesnt need fixing”
or
“Reach isnt Halo, it should be more like Halo 2 or 3”

Both arrogant sides, ignorant to any discussion to anything they dont like, The Bnet forums have a healthy mix, over here its just the latter.

Halo 4 must innovate, adding Sprint would be the step in the right direction, not gimmicky crap like jetpacks, or invisibility, or invincibility, those were made to bring in more people by sacrificing the core gameplay.

Adding a Sprint system akin to Armor Lock would definitely help, the more damage you get the more it affects your sprint time, add that and make it so that being shot while sprinting slows you down and sprint would be just fine.This way people cant run from a mistake they made, and the person who caught them CAN CHASE THEM. Add a short .5 second delay to when you can bring your weapon back up, and add a melee delay, so meleeing and sprint + sword combo will be ineffective. This system would be similar to Battlefield 3.

Well it does not “NEED” it. All the other Halo’s did fine without sprint.

The Halo formula was getting stale, and with the introduction of sprint in Reach has already made gamers accustomed to it. Besides sprint encourages faster gameplay, as more people tend to run into the action, instead of running out of it. And for people worried that gamers will start to run away mid-fight 343 can implement a system, The more you shoot at said player the slower the player goes until he cant sprint anymore.

Halo reach is slower than all the other halos, what Halo 4 needs to faster movement speed and jump hieght.

Sprint can go. I want my arcade style shooter back.

I found that annoying in Halo 3 well before Reach came out. It didn’t make sense to have one speed and one speed only. And I spent most of the time just jumping around because that was the faster way to get around a damn map.

I’m on the fence with this one. Slower movement speed encouraged vehicle usage and did just fine in previous halo games, but sprint still did help to speed gameplay a bit (though everything else slowed it down).

Halo 2 was the fastest game for BTB

The reason this is: In halo 2, your weapon has a long range, and it kills quickly. It has NOTHING to do with sprint. Halo 2 is by far the best BTB halo created (except arguably halo CE for the PC).

Sprint is only necessary if you have the annoyingly slow-killing DMR or halo 3 BR (which killed slower and at a shorter range than it’s halo 2 counterpart).

Sprint does the Opposite in Halo, If your opponent realises he doesn’t have the upperhand, he’ll just run away.

Thats what happens most of the time in the MLG playlist, they’ll only stay and fight if they get the first two shots off.

^^^This. You guys know that sprint actually slows down gameplay among good players right? It allows players to escape battle too easily creating for more chasing then shooting in most games. Its a crutch that makes up for poor decision making and awareness and it feels clunky in Halo. It also makes some CQB power weapons like the sword and shotgun pretty OP and unstoppable on small maps.

We have shields in Halo that make sprint more used for escaping battle then for map movement and it is just a crutch.

Yep, exactly it is a crutch.

thats why it should be the weaker you are the slower you move. And it will show how weak they are by the spartans limping away or something.

I am sorry but that is one of the worst gameplay mechanic Ideas I have ever heard in my entire life.

i dont mean during normal movement. I mean for sprinting so its used as a faster way of getting places, but doesnt make you have to chase them around. the limping thing is just for show.

Lets take away the things that makes Halo unique! Oh wait, no sprint. We do not need sprint. The better player always wins in HaloCE/2 and those did not have sprint. Most of the time sprint is used in Reach is power weapon rush, beatdown, sword, hammer, and running away. We don’t need that.

Halo 4 will not need sprint!! and if you think that sprint speeds up gameplay you are wrong! because once other players realize that there down a shot or 2 then they just sprint of!
the ONLY way you can speed up gameplay is by increasing run speed!

I’d be extremely happy if it had it. I’ve wanted sprint for a while, and we finally got it. They can scrap armor abilities for all I care, as long as sprinting is a normal function.

And what the heck? All of you are complaining about people sprinting away. First off, sprint barely even lasts long enough to sprint away. Second, you have to ability to do it too, so sprint after them! This is coming from somebody who’s played Halo since Combat Evolved: sprint is awesome. It should be in Halo 4.

Including sprint would just slow down gameplay. Our default movement speed would have to be lowered to give sprint a purpose, we would also have periods of time where we would not be able to aim. Some of the reasons that Halo CE and Halo 2 were so competitive and fast paced were because we had a fast movement speed and because we could constantly aim. These are some of the things that have made Halo, Halo for me. I really hope sprint is not included in Halo 4, and if it is, I may not even purchase the game.

while it would make sense and be a nice addition, with three hit melee, but it is not needed.
