If halo 4 ever wants to get passed 50k population AT LEAST which is still terrible I mean c’mon halo 3 had 500k+ online all the time. Even 1mil. Big team skirmish isn’t the only thing they need to bring back to make halo 4 better… They should just work on a mega huge update and revamp the entire multiplayer… Just saying…
They wont change the game.
And next halo’s will be likely halo 4, with custom loadouts,ordnance drops, perks, JIP’s and alot of other things that made halo 4 fail.
343i think the game is fine, even with 30k peak population and the 7 place of top 20 most played games.
There listing to the community and they admitted they had sceawed up on halo 4. There not going to make the same mistake.

Really? Sorry I didn’t play Halo 3 during it’s peak years but I still find that incredibly hard to believe. COD BO2 is the most played game currently and gets a population of about 250,000. That’s considering 50% of the past Halo population play it over H4. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong but 1 mil?
H4 will always have a low population like it or not. It’s a brilliant game currently and no change will really effect its population more than the weapon balance would. BTB Objective isn’t really going to bring players back.
some small changes would be nice too. I would like them to add some more armor and stances so that some of the challenges you put will be worth trying to complete I mean come on you introduce stances with only 8 and 4 of them re just handed to you from the beginning
MAPS, MAPS, MAPS!! Maps are the biggest issue for me.
Many others suggested something like this a while back and people seem to think Halo 4 is fine the way it is. And that was before weapon tuning.
Loadouts, PODs, and perks can work in Halo but there needs to be structure to it.
Pre set loadouts with various perk combinations, power up ONLY PODs, power weapons on map, AAs as pick ups or tweaked for longer recharge times.
Example:
Team BRs(or any Primary)
BR/frag/resupply/sensor/Hardlight
BR/frag/shielding/dexterity/Thrusters
BR/frag/grenadier/explosives/Hologram
I wish they would consider a Team Slayer playlist with pre sets and radar OR power up only PODs in Infinity Slayer. There is something special about Halo 4 but it needs some MAJOR restructuring for it to reach its full potential.

I never played Halo 3 multiplayer (started playing mp with Reach - though I have played all of them for campaign), but H4 lost 320,000 people in the first month:

that drove me back to playing Reach (25,000 to 30,000 per day still playing it) and abandoning H4 and 343i too. With the announcement of H5, Game Code changes are done and they will not fix anything going forward - other than the back end tuning / tweaking stuff which doesn’t fix the lag issues.
Most of them are working on halo 5 now, no point in making major changes to the game, especially after the weapon update

Population doesn’t mean anything. It is an ego boost, that is all it is and specifically how you phrased it is evident enough that its all about who has the bigger population number, Halo or Call of Duty.
In the end it means NOTHING. It doesn’t even equate to DLC sales as its been shown that DLC sales aren’t a main objective for companies and more players come back to a game to buy the DLC. It also means NOTHING for future sales of games since hype does enough to get gamers riled up enough to get them to hand over $60 again and again and again.
You want them to change the multiplayer to how you want it, all because you want halo to have a bigger number than anyone else.

What? Halo 4 was not “screwed up” what is this nonsense you blab of that never actually happened? Halo 4 is my favorite game of the series it rocks.

Halo 3’s population was gauged differently than it is in Halo Reach or Halo 4. Halo 3 was a 24 hour population where Halo Reach, Halo 4, and Black Ops 2 are closer to a real time population. In Halo 3’s Prime you would see around 200-300k on most nights.
So in other words it is possible that the OP did see those numbers but didn’t quite know what they meant.
