I go on youtube, or watch TV and see these ads/comercials about Far Cry 3, Black Ops 2, Assassins Creed 3, and other games. Those games aready have multiple gameplay trailers out, and preorder ads posed all over websites. Those games come out the same month as Halo 4, and they are getting their name out. Meanwhile Halo 4 has barley any advertisement so far. if this continues, then Halo 4 is gonna be overshadowed by all these other games. Halo 4 dosent have any youtube ads, commercials or website banners. Lauch is only a few months away! And all halo 4 has, is a vidoc in the theaters, and megablocks advertisments. Other than that, the only way to watch Halo 4 videos is to search it yourself on the Web. 343i needs to stick these videos in the public’s face!
look what happened to Halo Anniversary! It had barley any advertisement and it ended up with very few sales. Halo is a BIG series, they need a start advirtising big! Like with Halo 3, When Halo 3 was coming out the advertising was enourmous, same with Halo Reach. There were TV commercials! 343/Microsoft really need to start advertising Halo 4 to the public now! or else launch will be a faliure, no matter how good the game is.
Halo 4 does not have a single gameplay trailer yet! E3 2011 had an awesome CGI trailer, E3 2012 had a Live action trailer. But we still havent had a single gameplay trailer (vidocs dont count). And the forward unto dawn series is going to be brodcasted way too close to launch, we need ads NOW! Cramming all the ads in November isnt going to work, otherwise Black Ops 2 and other games will overshadow Halo 4.
Thats good it doesn’t have much advertising. I don’t want people with no Halo experience coming in and make things too easy and too hard. I love that it has no advertising. That means that the only people I’ll be playing against are people that actually care about Halo as a whole and know what they’re doing. Black Ops 2 will not overshadow Halo 4. Not in terms of quality atleast. A lot of CoD players are know are starting to realize just how bad the series is getting, and won’t be getting BO2 no matter what advertisements are shown.
Halo 4 does have a lot of videos, but I agree. A montage-style trailer would be nice, commentated vidocs are good for getting the public aware but they dont have the same hype behind them. I’d much rather go back and watch the halo 3/reach trailers than their vidocs.

this was by far the most selfish post Ive seen all day/night.
while i do agree, Halo 4 is the second most pre-ordered game this year, they can’t to alot more, i highly doubt even a really well done CGI trailer would bump the pre-orders up much you can’t expect 200,000 people to pre-order a game just because of a CGI trailer, or any trailer for that matter, but it would help.

This immediatley made me feel incredibly bad about myself in everyway possible. You have a point, new people should be able to play. I don’t know, guess I was just remembering all the times I would play a quick match and get a team of people completely new to the game, or the opposite of where I get a team really good and an opposing team thats really new. I guess I really meant I’d love to just have more of the core Halo community, but I did really sound like an jerk
I fully agree! The trailer IMO MUST be a regular montage gameplay trailer too. I think Halo 3, ODST, and Reach started getting too into the whole live action stuff. People want to know what they are actually buying. Halo 4 isn’t a movie or an action figure set… It’s a video game… Show people the awesomeness that is the game… Even a CG trailer isn’t that bad of a thing. Either way I miss TV commercials like the Halo 2 ad.
Make a trailer like this but replace the Halo 2 gameplay with Halo 4 gameplay…
There we go, I turned it into an epic reading for you. Hope you like how I thought what you typed sounded like.

As I said in my ‘True Fan’ thread long ago.
Even if your MLG, Casual, Mix, Roleplay, Forge, Machinima, etc.
Your all True Fans. Especially when I walk by my front room and grab a glass of tea from the fridge and hear my little brother playing with his toys imagining he is flying a Falcon in Reach like when he watches me play on Multiplayer or in the Forge Maps.
That to me is True Fandom.
So whoever joins, be it new or old, they are all community members the moment they make that jump and come to love Halo in their own way.

Think of it this way: The initial transaction will be hell, for casuals and hardcore alike. But give it a month and when things settle down, if the actual ranking system does it’s job, you’ll still be put up against players at your level, allowing the higher skilled against their kind and the lesser to theirs. With MLG taking Halo 4 back into tournaments, I can almost guarantee things will balance out.
But as I said, as you recognized, and as Crimson Wolf X put into fathomable words: The incredible thing about halo is it’s diversity. People who’ve started at CE, 2, 3, Reach, 4, those who enjoy the fiction, the multiplayer, or everything. There’s no finish line, and there was no start. You’re either a halo fan, or not. The day people start to settle on that, this site will become a friendlier place for everyone.
Me . I quit CoD after mw3 . I’m glad I did and have been CoD free for a month or two now : ) .

Quit at mw2, really dissapointed they couldn’t recreate the feel CoD 4 had, so when Black ops was announced, that was it for me.

That’s because:
> 1: CoD is sure to bring in huge money for retailers, and they’re always inclined to post more advertisement on big multiplatform games. It’s always the CoD’s, FIFA’s and Madden’s that get that treatment.
> 2: Games like Far Cry 3 and AC3 need more advertisement because, altough they’re respected titles, they don’t have the broad mainstream appeal a CoD/Halo/Fifa/GTA has. Sure: they will sell millions, but they need to fight for every copy sold whereas the other games I mentioned will sell millions based upon their names anyways. FC3 and to a lesser degree AC3 don’t have that on that same level.
> > look what happened to Halo Anniversary! It had barley any advertisement and it ended up with very few sales.
> Keep in mind that it was a remake, and even a lot of the most hardcore fans said they wouldn’t buy that game. Remakes generally don’t sell that well, especially when they need to take on games like a new CoD…
> Also remember it came after Reach, and the past 3 years or so…or rather the years after H3 have shown a shift in mainstream appeal as well. Mainstream appeal shifted from Halo to CoD. Mainstream gamers simply weren’t that stoked about Halo games anymore as they used to.

> Well, first of all: like you say; Halo is a big franchise. It has a huge name, and that alone is a reason why “other games” (AKA: not CoD) won’t overshadow it.
> Yes: CoD will sell more. So what? Doesn’t affect your gaming experience in any way.
> Secondly: a long stretched media campaign is dangerous. People might grow tired of seeing your ads pop up all the time. People might see the ads and grow excited but lose interest because it takes too long for the game to launch. Look at many blockbuster movies: the general audience knows they’re coming, but trailers are seldomly released outside a 3 month pre-release window. Where is our Hobbit trailer for instance?
> Thing is: if people generally know it’s coming, you can seal the deal with a short but powerful media campaign just in front of the release. I bet a month long campaign starting in October will do more than having a campaign that started off back in July…
> Besides: mainstream gamers and hardcore gamers know the game is coming anyways. Halo is all over the gamingsites and magazines. Reaching out to the general public only reveals your game to more casual games…the likes that won’t buy a Halo game.
> Long story short: you shouldn’t be worried.
Learn how to make a good advertising market.
ot: They will probably go all out in like 1 month to release date.

The last good CoD was WaW for me. I’ve owned all of them to date, but each iteration has been a hit or miss with me.
COD----Campaign–Multi
1------miss------miss
2------hit-------miss
3------miss------miss
4------hit-------hit
WaW----hit-------hit
MW2----miss------hit
BO-----hit-------miss
MW3----miss------miss
Think of this way
Halo 4 is the 2nd most preordered game with little to no advertising
Blops II is the worlds most preordered game with loads of advertising all over TV and the internet

It’s popularity amongst all consoles also helps. Whereas Halo 4 is xbox exclusive. Therefore, it’ll never be able to make as many sales.
I’d like to see more.

OH MY GOD, YOU SIR ARE AMAZING, I was laughing so hard listening to that! My god I havent laughed so hard in weeks. Thank you for the good laugh! Oh my god!
Halo 4 doesn’t need any advertisement, anyone who’s gonna buy it already knows about it, unless they’re 5 years old. I highly doubt an advertisement will sway undecided people into buying the game. There’s probably gonna be a live action trailer playing on tv when the game is closer to release like they always do with Halo. But Halo doesn’t need ads playing everywhere it’s one of the biggest game franchises, making a bunch of ads will just be wasting money really.
