Halo 4 needs an extremely exclusive, b a d Y o i n k ! piece of armor. I don’t want anyone except for 343 and a VERY VERY VERY select few group of people getting it.
The flaming helmet was cool, until tons of people had it, then it was just annoying.
Same went for the blue flaming helmet.
It is so cool to know that you could come across a very special player, again along the lines of my previous post stating about how the game needs a mysterious, memorable feel to it.
Truthfully,I don’t think Recon was a very good idea. A large chunk of Bungie’s email was: CAN I HAZ RECON? An armor for 343 only I’m okay with, but an exclusive armor would have 343 swamped and eventually these here forums.
Give it a unique set of insane challenges that must be vanquished in a set order. Players on the path to ‘Recon’ could wear a subdued version of the special helmet, like the symbol of a pilgrim.
While special items in game have the potential to promote elitism, they also have the potential to promote exceptional contributions in the community.

Like this?
Complete All missions on legendary with 4 players and all skulls on
Achieve the highest level in mutiplayer
Play against a 343 employee in online mutiplayer
Achieve over 50000 kill in matchmaking
Survive to set five in a standard firefight game 4 player
I think that’s a challenge for most people then like 0.5% of people can get it, and its still rare.
It would be good publicity for them and the forum. If you think about it majority of the people who found the forum were also people looking for ways to get recon and once they found out they became dedicated to the forum or at least acknowledged it.
They should make that helmet everyone wants right now for reach as the Halo 4 “Recon.”

I agree with something like this.
I believe it’s called “GRD”.
Yea i agree with this.
A rare armor that you could only unlock through a -Yoink- load of objectives would be awesome.
Like get every single achievement for the game, get 100 kills with each gun or something

Shhhh! you’ll rile the angry ones! they’re finally back to sleep!
> I believe it’s called “GRD”.
Yes, that would be it.
I’d rather just be a teddy bear.

No offense at all, but I would LOVE to kill a giant walking Spartan Teddy bear… multiple times.

More like that. Playing against a 343 employee isn’t an achievement. That’s just dumb luck, and even then, it doesn’t really matter.
Honestly, I’m absolutely against ‘exclusive’ armour sets. The more exclusive you make it, the more people are going to jump up and down on their beds, screaming like infants because they want it - not to mention the wild conspiracy theories that will inevitably crop up about how to unlock it, the eventual scams and hacks, and to complete the circle: 343i bowing in to pressure and releasing the armour, and demeaning the entire point of its exclusivity.
I’m all for armour being difficult to unlock. The Hayabusa set was supposed to be nigh-impossible to unlock, until we had a few scriddies browse the hex files of Halo 3’s Campaign and find the unlock sequence - posting the method online just meant that an extremely special trophy you’d have had to work for became worthless when everybody and their mother had it.
So, no. Exclusive, ‘employee-only’ armour is a bad thing. It’ll only lead to arguments and the entire fanbase squealing like piglets. Set me some reasonably-possible challenges that will take some time and dedication, and I’ll be happy to attempt them.

I agree completely.

I don’t mind. I’d be happy to just be the teddy bear and it would most likely negate the fact of me hating being killed.
I can be brown with the service tag of TEDY. Awww yeah.

now these are the helmets that didnt make it into REACH and the last one with the silver visor was suppose to be an INHARITOR unlockable but bungie seem to be using illegal substances when thinking this one threw but there pretty awsome http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ezXfXwVkn3k/TT-UUcbJifI/AAAAAAAAAHs/mZw4elm1gY0/s1600/ih_more+helmets01b.jpg they should put these in this year i would hope
Disagree. Recon was a disaster. The bnet forums were literally flooded with threads about that armor. It got so bad Bungie had to make a pinned topic that stated any threads about recon will be locked on sight and the creator issued a ban. I can’t even imagine what the employees inboxes were like at the time either. Finally after 2 years Bungie caved in and gave us all a chance to earn it.
I have no problem with 343 employees having their own unique armor/helmet/effect/whatever that only THEY have. That way we can distinguish between regular players and the creators. But that’s it. No one else should have it, ever. I’m sure just like Reach, there will be plenty of different armors, colors and combinations for you to choose from to stand out amongst the crowd if you chose to do so. But making an exclusive and rare set only leads to trouble. Some of the people who had recon early were hounded with pm’s by randoms after games and insulted and betrayed during play. Some were even hacked. People always want what they don’t have.

That just decreased the chance of 0.5% of the population down into 0.01% lol. I loved how Halo 3 recon pre-2009 was so rare. Everytime i saw the armour, I just thought “wow”. It should be kept like that and only rewarded to people who do rare things. Like the saying goes money makes money = rare makes rare.
