I love halo 4 and congratulate 343. However, multiplayer, online co-op and spartan ops all suffer from terrible lag. I fail to see how microsofts most expensive game lacks dedicated servers for its online modes. Please stop any updates on nerfs, buffs, gametypes and maps until the game you shipped is fully playable.
Though Halo 4 PC would happen before the 360 version got dedicated servers. And I would be okay with that because my PC could run it better than the 360.

Oh yeah, because what I loved the most about Bad Company 2 was being forced into an American server where it literally took 5 seconds for a fence to register my knife swing…

I like how you bring area into the equation. Because what I say still stands true.
A foreign dedicated server is better than a foreign peer-to-peer host.

Peer-to-peer at least gives me a chance to play with a local host. In CoD4, my “lost match” record went up by 10 each match because I was constantly leaving foreign hosted matches until I found a local one.
With American only servers, lag is 100% gauranteed and there will never be any hope for me.
Although dedicated servers would be nice, they’ve never been too important to me - I have no problems with well implemented peer to peer matchmaking.
Matchmaking in H4 needs drastic improvements though. If i’m lucky enough to get put into a match with decent connection it’s with mainland europeans that don’t speak english, and the rest of the time i’m put into matches with americans and end up lagging like crazy.
Search filters would go a long way but in 2012 I really don’t think I should be getting matched up with people from other continents in the first place.

Dedicated servers wouldn’t just be in America, they would be in every country/continent that has a playing population above a certain level such as Europe and Australia etc (even though 343i probably wouldn’t do that seeing as it seems they don’t believe any other part of the world exists).

Nope, they can make as many servers as they want in any location they want. There’s always limitation too. If there’s one server in Australia, guess what? No Australian would be in it. Because it will be full of US players who “spilled” over from their servers.
Even if there were enough servers to cater to every Australian gamer it still wouldn’t be ideal without a server browser. Homefront boasted about having Australian servers (the main reason I bought it). I didn’t play a single game in Australia (traded it in). Bad Company 2 or even 1943 had Australian servers. I think I played in Australia once (then traded it in).
Battlefield 3 has Australian servers and a browser. I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A US SERVER (I haven’t played it in months, but I still own it).
Not only that, but there are LAWS that they have to abided by in order to run servers. Australia is one of the hard places because we have a cap on the internet usage.
So no, creating servers isn’t a simple, “Lag is fixed forever for every single player!” solution.
I’m just jealous that you guys are even capable of connecting to the Halo 4 servers. I get booted every 15 minutes and lose all of my progress, commendations and the like. Even the commendations and challenges, show up as complete, but the xp i got from them has been lost somewhere. I just want to be able to play the game without having to reboot and cross my fingers I can finish a match before I get booted to the hopper servers or whatever they’re called.
