I just wrote an article for my website speculating about the music of Halo 4 based on what information has been shared so far. I’d greatly appreciate it if you read it and shared your thoughts.
I’m glad that people are being mostly optimistic about the music, and Halo 4 in general. Microsoft has assembled a fantastic team at 343i, and Tojima is no exception!
All I can say is I absolutely adore the music from all the other games, so I have rather high standards for this one. I will definitely be waiting on pins and needles for it!
>SQUEE!<
Sorry.
That was very fangirl-ish of me.
My apologies.
The music in the concept art teaser trailer I saw at Halo Fest almost reminded me of Metroid, but still totally feels like fits within the same universe as other Halo music.
I have nothing but respect for Marty O’ Donnell. His music was epic, atmospheric, and genre-bending. It always created feelings and moods that the rest of the game’s various aspects wouldn’t have been able to elicit on their own. (This is especially true for the original trilogy, where most emotional drives were only provided through the context of reading the books. ODST and Reach draw you in more with their development of the supporting characters.)
That said, I’m really liking what I’m hearing so far with Halo 4’s music. That’s a good thing, because the loss of Marty was one of my initial concerns about the franchise continuing without Bungie.
