Halo 4 Multiplayer I Fear Will Be Bad

Now no I’m not saying it’s gonna be bad, but it’s looking that way. I think that because I feel like they are getting too much like cod with this loadout system / point system. Also ordnance drops, this defeats all old ways of playing halo basically by which I mean map control. if there are no power weapons on map it’s just go for high ground hold one spot or chaos most of the time, also going up by points to win a game completely changes the halo way of winning a team deathmatch game which is 50 kills no added kills for sprees and assists just kills. now my team can win by other means then just kills… too much like cod this point system why are they changing something that in my opinion wasn’t broken. just make halo 3 multiplayer with a bit of reach in it and it would been a very good multiplayer experience, there was no need to revamp everything your just destroying what makes halo multiplayer what it is and I feel like it should go back to the old ways of weapons on map pick a pre chosen loadout of equal weapons or hell have armor abilities be a pick up like equipment was in halo 3 and have it die after a bit how bout that? I like that there’s always sprint though that is good and promethean (sorry if spelled wrong) vision looks cool as well. however I did see one armor ability that looked almost like it made someone practically invincible and could still move like a green healing aura… that doesn’t look cool at all either.

any other thoughts or concerns about halo 4’s multiplayer?

I stopped reading when you mentioned CoD, no informed poster on these forums, who has seen gameplay and read all the news and reviews would still make that comparison.

Btw, welcome to waypoint, hope you enjoy your stay, I don’t mean to come off too harsh.

Well I’m not saying gameplay it’s self is like COD just the points system and ordnance drops I’ve watched tons of gameplay and like how it looks like it plays. it’s the other smaller things like map control and points system that concerns me

I understand your concerns, but trust me, I’ve devoured every bit of info on 4, it’s in good hands, while some things look similar, 343 has done a wonderful job adapting, and nearly rebuilding these features to fit halo.

Have you payed any attention to why Halo 4 is NOT CoD?

First: Loadouts

You can only spawn with equivalents of weapons you would normally spawn with. This means instead of an AR or BR, you can have a Carbine, Light Rifle, DMR etc. NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. They aren’t letting you spawn with Shotguns, or Snipers

Second: Ordinance

Actually, you should be aware that power weapons STILL spawn on the map regularily. Meaning map control is key and essential. And Ordinance Drops will NOT give players true power weapons, only “mini” power weapons like Needlers, Shotguns etc. Rockets, Snipers and the like will still ONLY be available on the map. Players also only get between 2-3 Ordinance Drops per game depending on how well they perform.

Finally: Points

Points from Assists, Medals, and Style only count towards your experience gained. ONLY Points earned from the KILL count towards your score. Meaning when you get a kill no matter if your buddy assisted/distracted, or you headshotted, or it was a multikill/spree. You ONLY get 50 points added to your score. It’s the exact same scoring system, just with bigger looking numbers.

the points you get for getting medals dont go towards the team score, only towards your rank. also, ordinance drops are only in a few modes, and can be toggled off

Personal ordiance (earning weapons through style points) is only in infinity slayer. Weapons are still on the maps by default to pick up. Also there is still standard slayer.

During infinity slayer you still only get points for kills, 60 kills = 600 points at 10 points per kill. The point value you see flashed up on the screan is only for exp, personal ordinance, and your personal score (that only ranks you within your team).

again not saying it is it was the point system that reminded me of COD I’m sorry I even made the comparison I didn’t mean to get people offended I know it’s nothing like it thats why I love Halo… not COD. anyways that’s why I made this post so I could get some info, so I’m glad to hear it’s kills only, and thank you for clearing up ordnance drops although those would be nice to just have on map to I do kinda like the idea, in that case I almost feel like there should be those weapons on map but if your doing good your rewarded with some other weapon, but they probably get dropped fast enough anyways. I just hope they do a good job cause I plan on playing halo 4 a lot and am scared when they try to change multiplayer up because I’m a huge fan of it already

there are weapons on the map still even in modes with ordinance drops

Making the comparison is completely valid, albeit somewhat simplistic. I’ve seen the gameplay vids and read all of the information as it came about. 343 has abandoned the arena foundation and decided to go to a class system. Boom, like CoD and every other class shooter already. Even if you look at specifics–mods, specializations, etc.–clear comparisons can be made. Some mods/perks are so similar it’s funny. 343 just wants Halo to be a modern shooter, and from what I can see they have succeeded. But at what cost? The original gameplay based on moving around the map to gain your advantages (weapons, powerups, equipment) is all but gone. What OP said is pertinent. You shouldn’t discount what he said simply because CoD was mentioned and this has been discussed before.

^ well said.

IMO the success of Halo 4 will hinge on the AAs not the perks or starting load out weapons. If the AAs are not balanced and they slow down gameplay too much, break map control, and can be exploited by full team use-camo & jet pack-then Halo 4 will fall short of expectation just as Reach did. I am trying to be optimistic, most of the gameplay I have seen show players not spamming AA which is a great sign but that could just be because of unfamiliarity with Halo 4.

Why so many people want this soooo bad is beyond me. Keeping things just like they were before leads to only one thing, CoDifying a series.

This is true. In every Halo game, they have always changed the multiplayer, even the singleplayer. to keep things new and fresh, unlike COD, were they come out iwht a game every year, and every year is just like the last.

Regardless of what your opinion is, your entire argument is based on assumption and videos.

I played Halo 4 at Pax. It plays NOTHING like COD, and is still very much Halo.

As someone who played Halo 4 multiplayer at PAX, I can assure you that your fears are misplaced.

Just play Murder Minors. I’m no longer planning on buying and playing Halo 4 since Murder Minors is the superior game.

OH MY GAWD, I DON’T AGREE WITH YOUR VIEWS ON HALO THAT ARE LACKLUSTER! I MUST BEZ A TROLL! BANNNNNNNN!!!1!!!111one!!!

Seriously, get over it.

In CoD, the points you get for extra things like using your killstreaks or getting a headshot go towards only your exp and not the points for the team, just like on Reach. You get 6cR or so for a kill, +5cR for the headshot, if I’m correct.

Besides, games are meant to evolve. Classic gameplay wouldn’t be classic if we had it around today.
