Halo 4 Multiplayer Concern/Question for 343i

Good afternoon everybody, just wanted to stop by the forums for a second to get your opinion on some things…Having played all the Halo games from Reach to 3 in chronological order and in any other order one can come up with I have come up with a concern that I had been pondering about the multiplayer for Halo 4…1) Specifically the Health/Shields/Multiplayer Lifespan Difference in Game Modes AND 2) Will there be a wider selection of maps and will Matchmaking do a better job of giving a variety of maps for gameplay?

  1. What I mean by the Health/Shield concern is simply this, in Reach and Anniversary there was a defined line between say SWAT and Team Slayer and BTB. SWAT your life expectancy is zip, mainly because its a headshot and your toast, which I don’t mind because it changes the flow of Multiplayer gameplay when compared to Slayer when you have to be smarter with how to navigate maps and be recognizant of how much health you have left. It added strategy depending on game mode. Plus, you have the ability to save your bacon if you stumbled upon a health pack. I liked that because I had a choice of game types, if one day I’m getting roasted like a Thanksgiving turkey in Slayer I could at least jump to SWAT and have a different game strategy to try my hand at.

Now in comparison to Halo 3, there was no difference between a game mode like SWAT and a game mode like Slayer because shields and health were the same between all game modes, there was no variation in gameplay and because of that it became frustrating. It was like playing a SWAT game mode with Team Slayer rules, weapons and strategy and it was rage inducing at points.

My question to everyone here is, what should we look forward to in Halo 4? Reach type Multiplayer or Halo 3 multiplayer? Or a hybrid of Anniversary/Reach and Halo 3?

  1. My second question will be fairly short, and its really more of a comment than it is a question but…throughout any game mode in say Halo Reach or Halo 3 I’ve always ran into the issue of playing multiple games back to back to back to back on the same map. It seems as if the game recycles four or five maps over and over again when I’ve purchased all the DLC and would like to play on the new maps on a more regular basis than once every few hours. This is the only other major thing I would like to see tweaked for the matchmaking on Halo 4, just give players more variation in maps across all game modes so we don’t wind up playing the same map constantly, the game(as great as it is) becomes stale after a time of having the same five maps recycled on you constantly.

Anyway, I can’t wait until November 6th, its gonna be a great day!!!

For H3, you didnt have shields in swat.

Though true, if you compare say lifespan in a SWAT game to lifespan in a Slayer game they were practically the same…Reach on the other hand there was at least a difference between those game modes…IMO

I think you can relate that to map size and mainly sprint for that difference.

Maybe you’re right, because I put Halo 3 in for nostalgic purposes the other night and jumped in a Matchmaking game and the pace of the game was just so slow…I kept wanting to hit the sprint button to get out of a situation and didn’t have that option.
