Halo 4 Melee

Does any one know if halo 4 will have excessive lunge+auto aim like reach? I thought it was ridiculous in reach and was a major contributor to the tiny skill gap in cqc

I highly highly doubt they will add any skill element to melee.

I just hope for bleedthrough damage, it was anoying in reach to get someones shield almost down then just having to wack them twice instead of once like in past games making you waste ammo.

From what I’ve seen (and I’ve been looking closely, as much as possibly from just videos I’ve seen), there’s no/very little lunge. I could be wrong, and/or this could change before release.

It doesn’t appear to have the magnetic super lunge of Reach from all the footage I’ve seen.

melee definitely looks smoother and 4, i think we’ve got bleed through back and the lunge doesn’t look as big as it was in reach.

though, latency will probably screw things up.

bleedthrough is in and they see seem to have less lunge.

This!

I’ve noticed that the melee has less lunge too! No more super melee’s from ranges that are not close enough anymore!

The only thing I hope for, is no sword blocking.
God that was horrendous in Reach, and it be a major let down for me to not use E. Sword anymore if it does return.

Sword block confirmed out.

I’m happy and glad that the Sword block is gone! Because it made no sense to get a second lucky chance by melee’ing a sword lunge…

Proof please? o:

Can’t seem to find anything stating it is.

Someone else will have to link you some sauce, I’m going offline now for some dinner.

But it is out

I just hope pummel rushing will be dead(save the sword, thats supposed to work that way). But from what I can tell, the sprint is halted by bullets, and the regular melee lunge is reduced.
343 does listen people.

Last Halo Weekly Blog.

Another aspect that I disliked about Reach’s melee system was how melee dodging was nearly non-existent. Many times I would try and juke someone out of a melee hit but when it seemed like I completely avoided them, it actually registers as a hit for them.

In Halo 3 I could juke someone out by jumping over them and strafe dodging them with ease to avoid a melee and it seemed to work fine. I don’t know how they managed to make it worse in Reach when it worked just fine in Halo 3.

Hopefully Halo 4’s melee system will be closer to Halo 3’s with the melee bleedthrough and being able to actually dodge a melee this time around.

I’m so glad that bleedthrough is back, but melees should only be 75% as strong as they were in Halo 3. Melees aren’t supposed to be weapons in their own right, they’re supposed to compliment your weapons.

I simply despise lunge. But I can’t have what I want (increased melee range with no lunge).

So I hope I won’t have to have the crosshair on something to be able to hit it.

Meleeing allies in the Reach campaign was troublesome compared to Halo 2 and Halo 3. Unlike the enemy AI which was extremely easy to hit.

Why melee an ally? Melee first, then push against the ally; your slow pushing gets a sudden speed boost. It’s a great way of transporting them when they decide to be too autonomous.

Also, it was a pain moving scenery objects in Reach.

reach had hardly ANY melee lunge.

Did you NOT play H3? I could practically fly across a room at ppl like nothing.

I’m annoyed that bleedthrough is back, it added more depth to CQC fights. They should at least reduce melee damage down to 50% or 75%, so that it’s not as simple.

Maybe they should look into re-working melee all together. Reducing melee damage, but introducing combos. If you mess up with comboing you’ll be left vulnerable. Maybe they could try making it that melee changes based on what weapon you’re using. Like, melee with the Spiker will have bleedthrough of 150% but melee with the AR or BR won’t bleedthrough. A melee with the Plasma Pistol reduces your own shields since the system thinks your fist (you melee with your fist while holing the PP) is a direct attack and will try to repel the kinectic force.
