I’ve decided that Halo 4 Matchmaking hates me, a few times now I have been up against a full team of rank 130’s. Now I’m not really someone to associate that number with uber skill… Except these guys destroy whatever team I’m on everytime I have a game like this… So maybe they are uber.
As I understand it, matchmaking now matches people that are at your skill level. Something called “Trueskill”? It’s neat and I enjoy this idea, I was tired of drudging through corpses it wasn’t all that fun for me…
That said, I like to play people who I can at least kill… Where as these games that I’ve had… Well my average life in one was something like four seconds? I’d spawn maybe take one step… And die. Rinse and repeat.
It’s annoying, but I just put up with it because I can just brush it off, leave the matchmaking and rejoin for a new batch of people to kill… But this seems to be happening quite often.
Anyone else have this? Is Trueskill a bit broken or maybe need some fine tuning? Or am I just unlucky?
Indeed I can agree with this if these matches were like all the others that come before and after they are usually kill for kill and each team as a pretty even fight… And then I’m on a team that is matched up against all 130’s and that fun is gone. Instantly we’re destroyed.
I’m not sure if I’m just psyching my self out now over a number or if they are in fact that over overwhelmingly amazing. I think it might be a bit of both.
I say that this has happened often but it’s actually a rare case, happened maybe four times now.
Take a look at the population in the playlist you’re playing in.
Trueskill will have no chance whatsoever to match you against people even near your own skill range if it’s lower than 2000 or even 3000, as that is how many players who are playing in it, not searching, to my knowledge atleast. Could be playing and searching, but there will still only be a small amount of players searching compared to playing.
Trueskill is set to loose matching to shorten search times, so you won’t be spending two or three minutes searching for the good matches, but spend 30 seconds looking for a match that you’ll waste 15 minutes in, or quit.
So with what you have told me, keeping that in mind. I should not be surprised to see this happening in Swat which is where this mostly has happened… Interesting.
I don’t want to say that I’m complaining, I am a bit of course. End of the day it’s just a game and I’m usually having fun.
I guess my only solution is to either:
a) Become an extremely persuasive person, causing thousands of more people to join in on the Swat goodness.
It has happened to me and my friend ONCE. Not only did we get paired agasint a FULL team (all in a party), all level 130’s, but two of our other teammates quit before the game even started. Considering how I HATE quitting and I still had my friend, we decided to take them on. Well, we got owned HARD. They completely stuck together and dominated us. Wasn’t long before they all got power weapons on top of it. At one point they all had snipers and we couldn’t even spawn without dying a second later. We stuck through the whole game, but as you can imagine it was terrible on my KD.
No idea why we got paired with them, but I just hope it don’t happen again. I can understand your frustration.
