I feel like i got ripped off, seeing as i put my money into these dlc’s and never got to play on them through matchmaking. 343 needs to put in a option that will only search for players that own dlc too. i would like to kill up a round of swat on pitfall. or something like that, not just slayer, rumbles and ricochet.

At this point, I don’t think they’d be losing much money by making the DLC free… In fact, it would really help. It obviously won’t increase population, but it will make things more enjoyable for the people still here. We’d Actually get to play DLC maps without the need of a separate DLC playlist. Maybe I’d actually get to play some games on Outcast… I only played that map during 343 day slayer and once when the pack just came out…

Bungie did no such thing. Anyways, it’s not 343’s decision. If you want free DLC talk to Microsoft.

Bungie didn’t make the DLC free, Microsoft did. And not all of Halo 3’s DLC is free, the Legendary and Mythic map packs I believe are still at full price.
Halo 2’s DLC and Halo 3’s Heroic map pack and cold storage map are free because of Microsoft’s DLC policy. The policy makes it that DLC with tied achievements cannot be free. Since the original Xbox Live had no achievements and because the policy didn’t exist back in 2004, Halo 2’s DLC was able to be made free after a certain length of time. And the Heroic map pack and Cold Storage had no tied achievements, so they were made free.
This is something Microsoft wont plan on changing any time soon, as DLC is a major source of revenue for Xbox Live. They might have discounts/promotions on certain DLC’s at times, but if it adds extra achievements it wont be free.
Squad DLC is coming up at the end of March, so why not hold a half-price sale on the map packs?
Require all maps to play the list, throw in some Heavy gametypes as additional incentive, promote it through the Bulletin/Major Nelson, etc., and see what happens.
I’d love to see a lot more DLC in matchmaking. I think every other match Slayer and BTB should have a DLC map. They don’t need to make the content free, but they should have a sale on DLC, say 50% off, start with the oldest map packs and each month feature a newer set. Make the each 50% off sale for the whole month.

We may see some people come back to H4, but I think atleast releasing one mappack for free would be nice so I can actually play some DLC

umm maybe with games on gold it could be free or discounted?? just a thought and while i’m here be nice to get some reach maps brought to life in halo 4.

I just realized something; It makes sense that 343 is remaining ignorant (albeit aware) of the DLC situation. It’s common sense to have none map specific DLC achievements; they didn’t do it. It’s common sense to have a DLC playlist to support those who support you; they don’t.
I honestly think many would stop playing Halo 4 if 84/84 and SR130. Obviously having a DLC playlist (one for 4v4, one for 8v8, rotate them every other week, just one at a time) is common sense… and I know the people at 343 can’t be that unintelligent.
Maybe they DO get it more than we think and that’s why they are stopping us from playing the maps we purchased. It’s definitely not right.
