Okay, let me start with an introduction. This is a thread about Master Chief’s new armor as seen in the E3 teaser trailer, Halo 4 cover picture, and the newly released images of McFarlane’s Halo 4 action-figure. This also has a poll attached to it, so I can gather clearer information on your, the community’s, opinion. I’ll also answer a few questions asked on the comments below.
Here’s a question, “how did Master Chief change his armor in the middle of space?” Some people are all hyped up about how Master Chief jumped from one armor to another in the middle of space in a destroyed UNSC warship. Well, like they (Microsoft, E3, 343i, IGN) said, it’s just a TEASER trailer. Not an actual official trailer. Well, you know what I mean. If anything, my best guess is that it was just a teaser to flash of MC’s new armor design; get fans all excited. Perhaps, Master Chief didn’t start the game with the new armor and would be obtained as part of the plot later in the game. But like I said, I don’t work with 343i, I don’t get leaked info, therefore, I do not officially know. But it would kinda make sense, right?
This brings me to my next topic - does the armor appeal to us?
If you go to the Bungie forums for Halo, there’s a lot of people ‘hating’ on the new armor, yet there’s a lot of people going along with the armor. Personally, I thought I hated the armor. It didn’t seem ‘Chiefy’ enough. It didn’t feel like Master Chief. It’s epic armor and all, but I didn’t feel comfortable with it being Master Chief. Some people say it looks to close to a Japanese design. Perhaps they’re comparing it with the one seen in the Japanese collection of Halo shorts, Halo: Legends’, short story, ‘The Package’ (and I do see the similarities). But that’s not the case for me.
The helmet looks like… I can’t really explain so please pardon any nonsense you receive from this… It looks like what someone, perhaps an MLG, who plays multiplayer matchmaking all day using a deep voice changer calling kids noobs or bragging how much of a ‘pro’ he is would wear. Hopefully, that somewhat made sense to you. If it did, here’s a cookie. (:
Originally, I hated the armor. Now, I feel like the new armor is pretty freakin’ sick (I still miss our protagonist’s space-diaper). If anything though, I still don’t feel a complete connection to the new helmet. The original armors, from Mk. V to Mk. VI, capture some kind of curious look to the Master Chief’s face. It blended perfectly with my experience with exploring a new world the Halo games brought. Even when they changed the helmet from Halo: Combat Evolved to Halo 2’s Mark VI, I still loved the helmet. Specifically the visor; it was wide and opened to witness new worlds I’d enter. Th new visor looks like what- some kind of pair of futuristic glasses? It almost looks as if Master Chief is wearing the Rogue helmet from Halo 3! …In my opinion…
I’m working on accepting that. Maybe someone on this thread could convince me otherwise, or maybe someone understands what I’m saying. Either way, I’m all for reason.
Let me know what you think on the comments below, or maybe you can take some of your time to answer my poll question, if you haven’t already.
Thank you for reading and feel free to ‘thank’ me if you feel like I’m of any help to this community! (Lets me know if I’m doing any good lately…) =)
