I’ve played Halo since Halo 1 and one thing was consistent from Halo 1 to Halo Reach and that was it had a style of play that promoted map movement.
The loadout change in Reach wasnt that big of a deal because there were power weapons still on the map so you had to move to obtain them.
In this game there are no weapons on the map, you get personal ordinances just for getting kills. You literally don’t have to move from spawn with your team and you will win most matches. Also the ordinances bring randomness into the game such as getting 3 damage boosts vs. getting nothing better than a needler.
Halo 4 should initiate a playlist with weapons located on the map as opposed to having ordinances. Bring back that core style of play the armor abilities, packages, and new weapons are fine additions but this change is what killed the game. Make people have to move to get the power weapons. Eliminate the possibility of randomness with these ordinances.
I think it was a lazy move not putting weapons on the map because that requires a lot of effort for map balance. Without having them on the map that challenge no longer exists. I’m good at this game k/d wise but I cant bring myself to play it because it can be a camp fest.
Either create this new playlist or maybe make personal ordinances appear at random locations so the player has to move to obtain them. Right now campers are rewarded and just sitting at spawn team shooting is what this game is turning into.
Dude, there are weapons all over these maps. What are you talking about? There may not be quite as many, I’m not sure I don’t have those numbers, but they are everywhere. They have an entire specialization that helps you gasp find weapon spawns.

His on about the ordinance drops which encourage camping and no longer promote team-work and map control
Halo 4 strayed away from the core gameplay but really when it comes to getting that gameplay back the games not that far from it it only really needs about 3 big changes 2 of them being to ordinance to make it work. Loadouts need to go though.

The only people who think this are the ones who have yet to really play with team mates or other class based shooters. Please stop being stuck in your old ways and learn to adapt to a new style of team work.
i know how you feel… 2 mins into the game and everyone has power weapons from their ordnance… i played a game a few days ago where two people on the other team had speedbost scattershots, another guy had binary rifle, and the other had inceneration cannon… completley unfair and they destroyed us simply because we couldnt do anything against those weapons… rather annoying, i havent played a game since…

Your not adapting , Your settling for less. Theres a difference

No, whether you want to believe it or not, its called adapting. Because the game plays slightly different, he changes his playstyle, “adapts” to do well.

Tell me how in CTF my team still doesn’t have to coordinate an offense for the flag, but protect ours? Do I drive the mongoose and hold the flag by myself? I can just go on a rampage with my Mantis and having no one guard it right?
Tell me how my team in Oddball doesn’t have to support our ball carrier and we can win by just, “Camping”.
You mean we don’t have to protect our bases in Dominion? We don’t have to move as a unit to capture a heavily fortified Bravo base on Exile?
Better yet, why don’t you tell me in an game of Infinity Slayer how my team using Promethean vision to scout you out, keeping someone with regen field near us at all times and controlling the center (bellow the circle) stair case isn’t going to give us map control of a good half/ 3/4 of haven.
> > Oh, new style of teamwork? Can you explain it for me?

Old Halo:
Rush power weapon spawn, get it first, kill other team, camp there the rest of the game.
Other teams options? Only one…take back that location and camp it themselves.
>_>
Oh and lets not forget old school AR Halo:
Other teams gets all of the power weapons and BRs and you just die constantly from not having a weapon to work with.
Oh and lets also not forget PRE-TU Halo 2…5 MONTHS after the game was out:
Spawn on Coagulation with SMG, get spawn killed by BR users over and over. Teammates quit out…you have no back up coming. (Thanks JIP!)
The arena aspect of halo is gone… And i doubt it’ll return.
I played 450+ hours of halo reach multiplayer…
You could’nt make custom loadouts.
Maps didn’t have random elements.
Why was it still fun?
Because it was still arena halo.
It was WORTH IT to get better. There were no stupid markers over weapons, so you would always find new things on maps by exploring.
How did i start off a match in halo reach? i ran for the shotgun at the lift in countdown, lifted, and used my superior map knowledge to pwn those scrubz…
How do i start off a match in halo 4? I take my DMR, sit behind a rock and wait till i get a sniper rifle with ordinance, and i do not move the entire match unless i die.
Sorry for not clarifying. I was specifically mentioning slayer not objective gametypes because the objective does make players move around the map. However, in slayer there is no such incentive. Someone mentioned the random ordinances. Most of the time those are either needler or plasma grenades so there is no point in going after them.
To the guy talking about promethean and regen field with his team in slayer. That’s nice that you have a team of four that can do that. Try doing that with randoms and let me know how it goes. Then you’ll respond get a full team and play. I shouldnt have to have a full team to enjoy this game. I never did before this one. I play competitively but also to have fun and grinding out games because players are sitting in one location crouched with promethean vision doesnt make the game entertaining even if I win by a ton.
I think either my playlist idea as a beta test could maybe introduce a nice change. Maybe change personal ordinances to only damage boost, speed boost, and overshield to create some consistency and have the random ordinances actually be power weapons.
Just tossing some ideas around I agree with the people above. This game is close it just needs a tweak to get that halo style back

LOL
Nice ONLY strategy for Reach and it proved my point.
And as for the match on Halo 4, you’re clearing talking about Ragnarok which I can agree with because that map was crap in Halo 3 and should have stayed gone. There were much better maps to bring back (Zanzibar, 343i!!!)
And also, you’re right…I loved EXPLORING the map to find weapons to help my team out…as opposed to just knowing where they are so I can get into battle much quicker.

You can’t expect to play at a competitive level with out a team who is willing to work together and never argue. No mechanics, nor changes will fix that. My point was that team work still exists just in a different form then what many Halo players are used to. I personally play a lot of TF2, so to me it’s not even an issue in seeing how team work was meant to be created in Halo 4.
The halo style is here. Power weapons drop on the map, strength in numbers, the revolutionary shield system, the unique weapons that people have grown up with are all here. What’s changed is it being a class based shooter over an arena based shooter.
Also I think that is even worse of an idea with Speed, Power, and Over shield as ordinances I would pick power every time and 3 shot kill everyone with my DMR, or better yet just run and gun with my AR. No, no, no. Very bad idea.
Well, i like old Halo. UnanimateCarp5 is right but he talk about a good team vs a bad team.
But are teams! In H4 teamwork is a camper lone wolf making sprees or follow the host getting assists/kills.
2 DMRs destroy a guy in 0.6sec, its the H4/Reach teamwork.
Old Halos has fails yes, fix it and have a excellent game.
Hmmm… yeah just “ADAPT”… why?
This “new” Halo was made for campers, I would rather be out on the battlefield in a Warthog driving or shooting someone… but with combos like AC/Sinper-DMR or Plasma Pistol/nade movement on some maps are reduced alot… Hell betrayals are even higher.
About adapting, I am SR 128 moving up slowly and surely… I will be adapting to AC 3 as soon as I get it from Gamefly… probly come back for Spops and Grifball here and there.

I can understand the host connections some times. I also rage when the host seems to have a 3sk BR.
But lone wolfing? Maybe that player deserved it? I’m pretty good and when I lone wolf it against a bad team, I do really well and I deserve to; I’m the better player and they aren’t working like a team.
But against a good team? I get wrecked all the time. Lots of frustration, but then again I know its MY fault for not sticking with my team; when I knew that other team weren’t pushovers
