Halo 4 Living Dead

If Halo 4 includes the Flood, I would love to see them as the zombies in matchmaking and custom games. The Alpha Zombies would be tank forms while the regular zombies would be the infected human combat forms. Of course, the hitboxes would need to be adjusted. Currently, the Living Dead playlist is host to a number of problems. Players abuse the system and kill one other to obtain more ammunition and escape imminent death. Adding weapons lying around the map, similar to Halo 3, allows players to receive more ammo without intentionally killing. Even so, there are those who betray for enjoyment. Therefore, Living Dead in Halo 4 needs to feature a booting system. Another major problem with Living Dead is the lack of variety. Unless the map with Alpha Zombies features no camping spots, players would gladly vote for it over Infection. The Alpha Zombies need more health. Fortunately, it would make sense if they are tank forms. Killing the infected should not give the player a substantial amount of credits, if Halo 4 even includes credits. Winning the round should reward the player much more than the kills they racked up. For example, winning as a human will give the survivors a greater amount of credits than those who died while trying. With the new changes, I suggest Living Dead game modes should be five minutes long rather than four.

To sum it up, here are the following changes I want to see in Living Dead for Halo 4:

-Weapons lie around the map
-Booting is enabled for betrayers
-Flood models as Zombie skins with appropriate hitboxes
-5 minute long matches
-Return of Save One Bullet (Surviving the round rewards the players with more credits than other Living Dead game variants)
-Return of Safe Havens (in matchmaking)
-Alpha Zombies boast more health
-Obtaining kills grants the player less credits than traditional Halo playlists. On the other hand, winning grants the player more credits than traditional Halo playlists. (Personally, I would rather have Halo 4 without credits. The reintroduction of EXP will create a much better Living Dead community and Halo community in general.)

Other great additions to Living Dead includes the introduction of more movable objects. Building barricades adds a whole new element to Infection. If player-created maps are allowed into matchmaking, I would love to see some with “barricadable” rooms. Environment and weather effects will benefit Forge overall, not just Living Dead game modes.

I suggest a new game mode with objectives. Players need to get to an extraction point and stay there until the extraction timer expires. The zone will be known as INF_EXTRACTION or INF_EXTRACT. Only humans are able to trigger the extraction zone. Only one human is needed to trigger it. Once inside, humans defend themselves against the horde of zombies. It is would be wise if they barricade the area as much as possible. After a certain amount of time, everybody outside of the extraction zone will be killed. After the extraction zone is triggered, the normal timer is unable to run out of time.

Winning Scenarios:

Humans are able to win if they reach the extraction zone and defend themselves until the timer runs out. The humans only need one survivor to win. Those who survive (humans inside of the extraction zone once the extraction timer expires) will be granted credits.

Zombies are able to win if they kill all of the humans before they reach the extraction zone or if they kill the humans after the extraction timer is triggered. The Zombies can also win if time runs out.

The extraction timer is a timer that appears onscreen after the extraction zone is triggered. The default amount of time is one minute and thirty seconds. Although, the amount of time can be changed in Forge if needed. The zombies should have roughly 90% of the human running speed. Although, the zombies will have a boatload of health.

Feel free to post your own suggestions for Halo 4’s Living Dead playlist.

First off, I like your idea of making the Zombies Flood models but PLEASE make it OPTIONAL. I have tons of infection games that are NOT based around the concept of flood/zombies but still make you of the gameplay style infection provides.

Second, your extraction idea sounds a lot like safe havens. If we had the option to make the round end on haven capture then it would essentially be the same thing right?

Third, my own idea for infection. Give us the option to add wreakage in forge maps, like destroyed cars, little bursts of fire, piles of trash, and such. Infection is not the only use for them but it’s certainly the most apparent, since destroyed city or destroyed research center seems to be the most common theme I see on infection maps.

I woul love to see this but 343 are probably too lazy to do it

> I woul love to see this but 343 are probably too lazy to do it

have you even seen what 343 have done?

they have:
-made waypoint, its awesome for the halo community
-made HALO aniversary, as a gift to halo fans
-made TU updates to reach, to keep the population alive untill H4 gets here

and you say they are LAZY?

To be honest here.

Infection should stay a custom game.

Never…ever…put it back in FFA.

> -made HALO aniversary, as a gift to halo fans

Funny, I’ve never had to buy a gift for myself…

Anyway if the player transformed into a Flood combat form then that would be awesome, don’t see why they have yet to do it.

Why not it’s own playlist?

If it does return I hope they actually put some effort into forging a map so it has a better flow for Living Dead. Was disappointed that the Living Dead maps were just the same as slayer maps: No barricades, no wreckage, no real spots to defend, etc. An infection map should have things like various rooms to hold up in, destructible barricades, and give survivors an actual option as opposed to looking for map bugs to exploit.

slightly off topic but when will the TU affect the rest of the MM playlists?

I liked how it was in halo 3 custom maps for zombies.

There are tons of very good custom zombie maps in Halo Reach. They just not been implemented in the playlist yet. I’m hoping the January update will add lots of good custom map in the playlist.

I think its a great idea
i would realy like to see the Flood in the Living Dead Halo 4 they scare me, and when someone kills you we could see you transform in a flood maybe

I agree. Although, I believe Living Dead should stay as a playlist. It is one of the most popular game modes, if not the most.
