343 Please listen up. Halo Reach was pretty much ruined because of sprint and evade. Halo 3 living dead This is how I want to see living dead once again come halo 4. Good Maps no sprinting or evade. Give the zombies the shield like it is shown in this video and don’t give human none. Put back in invis orb and the overshield orb aswell. Overall I would once again like to see 343 go back to the good old days when things in Living Dead was much more fun to play as a zombie. Yes it was a little bit slow. But humans died much more quicker in Halo 3 living dead then they do in Halo Reach version of the Living Dead.
It took forever to kill humans in H3 Living Dead because if someone saw you, you died. In Halo Reach, Sprint allows you to move quickly so if a human spots you, you have a chance to move around and kill them, which actually makes the game go by quicker. Halo 3 Living Dead was slow and campers were far more successful, due to the zombies not being able to do anything besides walking forward and hoping they didn’t get shot.
At the very least I wouldn’t mind having a “Classic” infection gametype.
Zombies with shields should be the default.
I will wish a blood clot upon the man that decides to reinstate Speed Demons without heavy revision.
If they were to remove the unchanged-default maps from Reach’s Living Dead, it would be vastly more balanced than Halo 3’s Living Dead. Lower the local max to 2 and add built-from-scratch community maps, and HRLD would blow H3LD out of the water.
The edits to Halo 3’s Living Dead maps exacerbated and created camp spots, and nearly all of the gametypes in the list were absolutely terrible and heavily imbalanced (most of them in favor of the Zombies, but that’s still imbalance). Most people liked H3LD because it was rare and different, but back in those days, I never personally met a single person who could stand more than two or three games of it.
That’s not to say that Reach’s Living Dead is great, but it’s almost better.
I would also like to see a Flood skin for the infected players.
Well depend on how good the people was in the game. People very from game to game. But my point is classic infection on Halo3 with the invis and overshield orbs made it much more fun. I like Halo Reach Living dead somewhat. But the sprint and evade killed the fun of it for me to be quite honest.
I think they should focus on alot more Variety of Infection gametypse for Halo 4. In Halo Reach, we are only allowed to play games like regular infection, and Alpha zombies, but thats it. In Halo 3 however, They had stuff like Speed demon, fat kid [was a fun custom game btw] and a whole lot of others. I only hope that they should consider though…
Honestly I love Halo 3 living dead weekend. Yes I might have had to figure out how to get to the humans and all. I might have died a dozens time aswell. But maps like rats nest and guardian made it more possible for zombies to hide above door ways and pipes and wait for the humans and vice versa. Great maps and no sprint or evade invis or overshield for human or zombie. Made the game much fun. I played it every weekend it came out and played it all weekend at that.

I agree that Evade is terrible. I don’t have an issue with Sprint so much, though if Halo 4’s movement speed is high enough by default, it might not be necessary in Infection.
I don’t remember OS being in H3LD… In Reach, a Zombie that grabs OS will have their shields charge up, and then immediately vanish after the charge – it’s three seconds of shielding, max. Didn’t Halo 3 behave the same way? (Man, it’s been a while…)

It depended on the gametype, zombies had shields in some gametypes such as Save One Bullet but not in others such as Braaaains.
What about we make H4 Living Dead, H4 Living Dead? We don’t need to go backwards we need to go forwards.
How about,
Halo 2 Living Dead Gametype
Halo 3 Living Dead Gametype
Halo Reach Living Dead Gametype
New Halo 4 Living Dead Gametype.
Speed Halo + Other random awesome community game modes.
There you go, problem solved.
Why does everybody think that it has to be either one or the other?
Personally, Halo 2 and Reach Living Dead were the best, they were really fast paced, lots of kills, lots of mayhem.
I would love to see all there game modes there, along with the new, custom ones such as fat kids etc.
Why not let them focus more on a new gametype of flood infection, it’s something the community have wanted since H2, in addition to infection. This is one thing 343 could do to broaden the new features.
Or bring in bots, I know its not been in previous halos, but what’s to stop it here?
How about not going back to H3 styled Zombies but making a step forward?
- Flood character models for Zombies (replace Sword with “Claw”)
- No AA’s.
- Some form of progression through the map (removing barriers every 1 minute or so. The longer you hold out, the further you can come).
- More players
- “Dedicated” maps (AKA: Forged maps like Haunted Houses, Mazes of Doom, Tower of Power etc) instead of the regular maps
- Ammo crates (placed “far” from the “camping spots” forcing players to take risks)
- Weapon drops (like a Longsword dropping a “semi power weapon” with limited ammo at a random spot on the map)
- Longer rounds
- Creepier atmosphere (like the filters you have in Reach).
And then there should be different game modes of course. But as a whole I think H4 should move forward quite a lot with Zombies.

And for that reason, I believe that Halo: Reach’s Living Dead was superior to that of Halo 3’s.
