So, is this Halo live action mini series (spanning 75 minutes over 5 weeks) what 343 was saying will be their big marketing plan?
It looks pretty cool, and i would be completey satisfied if thats the tip of their marketing campaign. Its a halo movie! (sort of)
thoughts?
If you have no idea what im talking about, read this
If this goes well, why do we even need a movie and Hollywood make it crappy? This is all we need. I can’t wait for it, and I’m sure it will be a success!
I’m sure there will be more to their marketing plan for Halo 4 then just a live action series. I’m picturing Halo 4 doritos, mountain dew, etc. as well.
I guy can dream, can he?!?!

throws up rainbow
this is amazing for hardcore fans that would have probably picked it up anyways, but idk what kind of reach (see what i did there?) it will have into the casual market.
i expect to see billboards, crazy commercials, huge amounts of product sponsorship…and maybe a movie trailer or something (ohhh that would be so cool). possibly a demo as well…drive the point home to every gaming market to buy the game, not just us heavy internet users =P
That’s cool there doing this but I would rather see gameplay.
I think it;s really cool just I would love to know when it is coming out. Anyone know the date?

Some time in October

I would imagine the 5 weeks leading up to Halo 4’s release. as it’s 6th November, I would imagine it would start either last week of September, or first week of October.

I have yet to see an “awful” live action. In fact imo they are all great. I would like to see a movie!

So Halo 4’s live action trailer was embarrassingly awful?
God forbid you ever becoming an interviewer/critic, you’ll surely be laughed at and then disregarded as the most unreliable and opinionated individual who speaks out of the buttcheeks with no logic or reason as to why it’s embarrassing or awful.

The saddest part of the live action trailers for Halo is that they show the potential of what could be Halo movies. Of course, i suspect that Forward Unto Dawn (if successful) would be used to gauge interest in such things.
Then you have to realize video game to big screen adaptations are big hits at the box office and movies do take a ton of money to make. Poor box office reception would ensure another Halo movie would not be made and that could have some unforeseen repercussions on the games themselves.
There’s more to it than what i’ve said but this is an interesting read
ODST trailer and the first Arms race trailer promoting Halo 3 were the only ones that I think got the tone right (except for the last few moments of the first arms race trailer) each in their different way. Or that didn’t have some really awkward details, acting or effects.
That said, they’ve all been commercials or teasers, promotions of some sort or another, not a web series with an actual plot. So I’m hoping they don’t make this embarrassing for me as a Halo fan. It’s weird being proud of a game’s presentation (Halo 3 and Reach especially) and being embarrassed of live action dramatizations of the franchise, but it’s nothing we haven’t seen before. Just look at the track record.
In any case Halo has a real split personality to contend with before it would ever work on the big screen, let alone a series of movies or shows. Jawas/Ewoks on one hand, Facehuggers/Xenomorphs on the other, just to name one glaring identity issue. I think a web series of one particular story is a good fit, but a Halo movie should never be green lit.
It would be profitable, no doubt; it might even be as profitable as Mortal Kombat. But it would still be a damn shame.
