Halo 4, as of right now, seems to have the most gameplay additions we have ever seen in a Halo game. The question is, are these additions good, or are they detrimental to Halo gameplay?
Here’s what I think of the changes Halo 4 is bringing to the table.
Like
-Spartan Ops. Nuff said.
-The Promethean enemies.
-Looks amazing.
-Armor skins look pretty cool, and adds another layer of personalization to our Spartan
-I have yet to find a problem with the weapons, except from the fact that it seems there are a lot of weapons that fill the same niche (AR, Assault Carbine, Storm Rifle, etc), but I’m sure 343 will find a way of balancing it out
-
Set Ordnance Drops (As in, players do not effect the drops).
-
Armor Abilities. 343 seems to be doing a pretty good job of making sure that they are balanced.
-I really like how enemies are denigrated when they are killed by a Forerunner weapon.
Neutral
-
Weapon skins. Doesn’t seem necessary at all.
-
Hit markers, not a big deal, I guess.
Dislike
-
Perks. I really do not like the idea that you cannot hold two primary weapons without having a perk, or where Players can get access to special motion tracker perks that essentially make it impossible for others to sneak up on them. Apparently, Unlimited Sprint is also a perk. I don’t like that either.
-
Covenant designs. Jackals look less bird-like, Elites look like reptiles and Grunts are more reminiscent of the Swarm from Gears of War than the little arthropods we have come to love.
-
Killstreaks. Ok, Ok, they’re not called Killstreaks, but that is what it’s essentially is. Once a player has obtained enough medals (which you usually get by killing someone), they can then call in an Ordnance Drop, which includes two pseudo-power weapons and an armor ability/perk. Why would they do that? It just seems like adding insult to injury for the people that are losing. Oh, guy completely dominating your team with a sword/ sniper combo? Well guess what? He just ran out of energy for his sword! Oh wait, he just call in a drop. Now he has a scattershot, and he didn’t even have to go very far for it.
