Halo 4 Librarian Cliffhanger

In the cutscene between Chief and The Librarian, she told Chief, “you are the culmination of a thousand lifetimes of planning,” to which he responds, “planning for what?”. The Didact then interrupts them and we never get an answer from The Librarian. Has this plot point ever been explained in the expanded lore outside of the games? Can someone please explain to me how they resolved this?

Maybe it was breaking the fourth wall joking how many developement hours it must have taken to make the whole series. Even more so if you consider the writing of the books.

Maybe something about humanity upholding the Mantle? The Forerunner Saga was coming out around the same time as Halo 4, I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet but if I had to guess that’s probably what it’s referring to.
