Halo 4 LE Consoles still in stock?

I really want to get my hands on a Halo 4 Limited Edition Xbox 360 console; my old Xbox 360 has just about had it after 5 years, so it’s high time I upgraded to the Xbox 360/S model. I also really want the exclusive in-game FOTUS armor set, Light Rifle Skin, not to mention that huge 320 GB Hard Drive.

Gamestop is sold out. Anybody know where I can get a brand-new one? Does anyone still have them in stock?

Obviously, I don’t want to buy a used one; I want the whole package, including the DLC.

BTW, how do the old Xbox 360 components match up with the Xbox 360/S? I know the power brick and hard drive are completely different… but what about the AV cable? I have an HD AV cable for my current console; can I still use it, or are the old cables not compatible with the S model?

The LE consoles are sold on a first come, first serve basis, and stores usually don’t backorder on those consoles. My suggestion, call around, call any electronic store around to see if they still have 1 in the back, when I got my LE Halo Reach console a year after its release, I had to drive to a Gamestop 80 KM away to get it, so call everywhere if you have to. If all else fails, try Ebay.

Have you tried amazon or play.com?

I actually looked on Amazon; several different retailers have them in stock on that site, but not Amazon itself. A few are backordered.

I’m just a little concerned about buying from these retailers, I prefer to get my stuff directly from Amazon, given the choice. If it’s listed in the “New” category, then it has to have the complete package, right? As in NOT used, not refurbished, all the DLC and other contents in the box and intact?

Sorry, I get a little paranoid when it comes to these things… $400 bucks is a lot of money.

I’ve seen some new ones on Ebay for retail price and yes the AV cables fit both

I would just save for the next gen console if your old 360 still is working

> I would just save for the next gen console if your old 360 still is working

Read the OP. My old console is nearing the end of its rope. It RRoD’d on me last night, though I managed to get it up and running again. However, it’s been acting oddly for a while, and I’m pretty sure it’s almost finished.

I’d like to get the Halo 4 LE Console Bundle while I have the chance, and I’m definitely going to have to replace the old console soon. Better to do it now, or I will likely regret it later.

Plus, I’m not getting an Xbox One until 2014, when Halo 5 and Destiny come out. That’s still a long ways off.

Try finding those small time game shops. They usually have LE stuff lying around as opposed to big names like GameStop. I’ve seen one in 2012 (?) with a Reach console in stock. That’s two years.

Not an option for me. I don’t any game stores of that sort where I live, and I prefer not to going running all over town hoping to get lucky.

Amazon is looking like my best bet, at this point. They’ve got several new ones in stock. I’m just worried that I’ll open the box and find out that’s it’s actually a refurbished console or something like, with none of the DLC or perhaps other items like that missing from the box…

Or, at least that’s how it is for a lot of the “Used” versions on Amazon; if you read the descriptions, none of them have the DLC, lots of them are using a standard 250GB hard drive, or are missing the custom controllers or even the power brick or AV cable.

One other thing I forgot to ask; do memory cards from the older Xbox 360 models work with the Xbox 360/S model?

I don’t think memory cards work, but you can stick a USB flash drive in one of the ports. More on that here

Note that despite what Microsoft says, you DO NOT need to buy their overpriced one- just about any flash drive will do,(I use three different ones, with different amounts of memory, and all work fine)

The stick will also work with your old xbox, so if you need to transfer things from the memory card, just plug in both and transfer. This also works with the hard drive, you could also buy the transfer cable, though this is not required. Info on transfer cable here.

Also, if you have any downloaded games or content associated with your XBL account, you will need to transfer the licenses from your old console to the new one to play it when your not connected to live. Information on that here. The short version of why is that you got two licenses when you bought anything on the marketplace, one for you account(that can be used wherever you go as long as you connect to LIVe) and one for the console, which can be used by anyone on the console, at anytime. THAT is the one that needs transferring.

At any rate, good luck finding a console, and have a nice day!

That’s very helpful. Thanks. Obviously I’ll need the transfer cable… shame those things are one-use, I have an old one from when I upgraded my 20GB hard to a 250GB… I’ll still have it sitting around here somewhere, but obviously it’s useless; I’m just not sure of the proper way to dispose of it.

I guess I’ll check that on the packaging when I get the new one.

amazon has 3 left in stock

Given XB1’s lack of backward compatibility with xbox and xbox 360 games, I could see the benefit of upgrading your 360 for the long hall.

My advice if you’re cost conscious: wait till the XB1 hits shelves… I suspect the price of 360s will dip. Perhaps not for the Halo LE edition, but definitely for the standard boxes. I might do the same…

That’s a no because of the USB storage. Only USB ports exist on the newer 360 models for memory extension.

You don’t need a transfer cable. You can use any USB hard drive to transfer your games and stuff over. But when I did it this way, I could only transfer 16GB at a time, since this is all the space my old Xbox console allocated to the portable hard drive. It may be different now. This takes a bit of time but if you have an old hard drive lying around it saves money on having to buy a transfer kit. Then like the other guy said, just do a license transfer on xbox.com and all your games etc will be ready to use.
