So, there’s been a lot of rumors going around that the the next Xbox (720) will be launching next year, specifically Holiday of next year. That got me thinking… Halo 4 comes out Holiday of next year as well, could Halo 4 be a launch title for the new Xbox? It does make sense. What better way to launch your console then having one of the most epic sci-fi series launch with it? Also the Wii U will be rolling out next year as well! anyone else agree? or disagree?

They announced it for the 360 though. Do you know how angry they’d make everyone if they suddenly came out and said right before launch “We were just joking, it’s actually on our new xbox”. I’d think Christmas 2014 or 2017 would be more likely release dates for the next xbox, more likely than not the Christmas 2017 one, since Microsoft still has to squeeze all of the life out of Kinect first, and Halo 6 launching on the next xbox like Halo 3 did would make sense.

I see what you mean, but It would also make sense to launch the new trilogy on a new console. I mean Halo CE on the original Xbox is what made the Xbox what it is today. If 343 can reinvent the series in a new way the “720” could share the same success as the Original Xbox. Just a thought.
I think a November 2013 release seems a lot more likely, since people would really get pissed off if a new console came at the same time as Halo 4, especially if Halo 4 was for that console instead of the 360.
I’ll be very surprised if Halo 5 isn’t a launch title.

“Rumors” is the key word here, and this isn’t the first time this has happened. A few years back there was talk of the “720” being released relatively soon, but it was just a bunch of rumors.
Halo 4 is going to be for the 360, and the “720” probably won’t be released until 2014 or so.

Microsoft has stated due to the Wii U coming out they have pushed production of the new xbox which is now called " Project Ten " at they have stated that THEY WILL Show it at E3 2012 and hoping to set release date Holiday 2012 - Spring 2013

Microsoft own all rights to Halo and to promote the New Xbox put Halo 4 on it so if you want to play Halo 4 you have to buy the nex xbox.

And what is the Wii U? A portable version of the Nintendo Wii. Project Ten will likely be a portable console,like the PSP. Doesn’t mean its going to be the new Xbox.
Also,this backs up my theory that it’s going to be a portable version because “The UI will be heavily based around Microsoft’s “Metro” style of user interface (the current interface for Windows Phone 7, and the style both the Xbox 360 and Windows 8 are moving to.”
I just hope that after Halo 4 release S does not come out with the 720, until halo 5 is announced. That way all of xbox will not get off halo to play the new console.

There have been “rumours” about Xbox 720 since before the 360 was even released.
Just go off of official information from MS and assume all else is false. You will be correct 99% of the time.

Technically the Wii is meant to appeal to family people,we’ve already surpassed the Wii U with Kinect. Microsoft shouldn’t rush Project 10. They are already in the lead with Kinect anyways.
I really only trust stuff straight from the makers of things. When Halo 4 was unveiled at E3, the representative clearly said “A new trilogy for the 360.”
As long as the Wii U is pretty much the same as the Wii (Terrible), then Kinect is a step ahead and Microsoft shouldn’t worry.
On the Halo 4 project page it says it is for X360, 16 player multiplayer, 4 player co-op, splitscreen and 1080p… But it was removed a week ago along with all the others aswell. I wonder why?
