Why does Halo 4 force itself into my native language?
I would really prefer to have it in english. Mostly because the translation is really bad, there are errors everywhere and strangely it doesn’t translate all things.
It just looks stupid.
Worst part is that there isn’t even an option to change the language in the settings.
Are there any fixes or am I forced to look at it till the end of time?
I have english set as my language in the console settings.

I brought the game from the UK but when i popped the game in, its all in bastardized Finnish…
Can we have an option to change the language please? Or do i need to set my console to a foreign country?
If you have English audio, change locale (not language) in system settings.

Its -Yoinking!- STUPID that i have to change my locality to a foreign country when i have the system language set to English!
Finnish words are long and confusing and the english voice overs dont match the crappy translations. Finnish people are taught english from the 8th grade… Why would we need “assault rifle” or “war games” translated?
I still don’t understand the decision behind this. I had the game for two days now and I am spending more time on this forum then playing.

+1 I even deleted my progress file after changing the locale to see if that fixed it. It did not. I’m actually cruising through the forum looking at all the threads complaining about the language issue and adding them as a favorite to see if 343 will eventually pay attention.

Changing locale didnt work for you?
It worked for me. I set locale to “other” without deleting any settings in Halo 4.
I literally had Finnish text, dashboarded, read this thread, changed the settings, booted Halo 4 back up again and “hey presto” the menu was in English.
Of course, i shouldnt have had to do that… But at least it worked.
I think the worst part was having all the menus, in game text and HUD in Finnish and having all the games sounds in English. It was really confusing.
Here is the issue. 343i shipped to certain countries games with multiple languages, like to Finland. To other countries, mainly Spanish and Portuguese speaking, they sent copies with only those languages. Not sure why they would not just include the English version, but in their infinite wisdom they decided not to.

My game came from the UK. I ordered it from amazon.co.uk but the multiple languages were already on the disc.
I’m only having trouble with the dubs. Text is English, voice is German.
Maybe they could release a free dlc that includes the English language parts? (Like Lionhead did for Fable 3 for example)
Yeah…You have to change the LOCATE not the language so that you will get it in english, Me and my dad got Halo 4 for Christmas and as we started playing it was all in Finnissh… well in this case it didn’t really matter because we are from Finland but I think Halo is way way better in english than in finnish… If you are unsure of which "locate"you are going to take Ireland because that one worked for us… Hope it works for u 2!
