The other day when I was playing Halo 4 I was getting absolutely wrecked by a team of 4. I’m not the best Halo 4 player but I can hold my own with the best of them. So afterwards I sent one of the guys a party invite to get some tips and the player told me to get a keyboard and mouse adapter like he has if I want to dominate. At this point my admiration of this player went down the toilet.
Do you all think its OK to use a keyboard and mouse? I think it is flagrant cheating. The thing is, there is no way to detect if a person is using this because it hooks up through the xbox wired controller.
From what Ive heard, some of the leaders in the challenge use a keyboard and mouse. I have played Halo on the PC before and using a keyboard and mouse is a massive advantage versus a controller. I would compare it to in basketball if one team was playing on a 6 foot high basket while the other was using a 10 foot high basket.
Since it is undetectable I think Microsoft needs to release an official keyboard and mouse for the 360 to level the playing field. I thinkit stinks it would have to come to that, but I see no other way to level the playing field. What do you think?

I wouldnt be so sure that its undetectable. I know that in Black ops 2 i saw quite a few whines on the forums of people being banned for using a kb/m , thought the thing they were using could be a different set up than urs.
Ive always wanted a official KB/m, imagine the game halo wars could have been with proper support, incredible! (not saying it isnt good for a console RTS)
You guys realise there are proper Xbox peripherals for mice right? Its not like hes chopped up wires and stuff to make one. He just bought a legit 360 mouse.

They’re likely third-person products, which isn’t quite the same as it being a Microsoft peripheral.
I think it’s cheating too, but I’m fairly strict on stuff like this. If you need outside assistance to do well, or you use it at all, I consider it cheating and any results you get with it worse than they actually are.
The game is played with a controller, not a keyboard and mouse. The player mentioned in the OP should play a PC shooter and see how well they do without the advantage.
Totally random, but I think the use of ‘flagrant’ is interesting… not my first choice, not that that’s a problem. Why not ‘blatant’? I’m curious… seen it a few times around the Forums.
Blatant is something that is done in the open. I think very few of the keyboard and mouse users will openly admit it on this forum. Plus, it is not always blatantly obvious one is using a keyboard and mouse. The only reason I knew was because I was told.

“third-person” is interesting too, because my first choice would be “third-party”.
True though, these adapters have been around since the original Xbox. In my opinion, if you can’t score properly in this game with a classic controller, you know … the way it’s meant to be … you’re not as great as you might think because you get a nice K/D.
Hm…this makes me wonder, now. I’ve ran into a few players who just simply rip. Like to the point of admiration, I wasn’t even mad anymore.
But using a keyboard and mouse? Come on, we all know it’s better than any game controller, and most PC games don’t have aim assist or magnetism anyway. So PC players are used to playing without it.
I mean, I guess it’d be okay if their aim assist and magnetism was shut off if they used a keyboard and mouse, but it’s not. I don’t know if it’s cheating but it’s not honorable play to wreck someone and think you’re better than them, with superior controls.
Couldn’t you see it as a personal preference?
I mean, FPS are meant to be played with kb/m after all. What if you were primarily a pc gamer but still want to play the Halo games? Just trying to see it from another view.
In theory, someone could be better with a controller than someone with kb/m, even though on the surface kb/b is superior, but I see that it just lies on your personal preference.
Why do those people buy a Xbox if they wanna play computer? Why is there modder controller and stuff? cause people are so bad, they need tools cause their skill is so low…it is very annoying but what do you wanna do? people will try to cheat all the time. Cheaters are loosers in every way lol I laugh about them
I would love to hear the opinion of someone that uses a keyboard and mouse for Halo 4, however I don’t think anyone is going to have the guts to admit to it. The reason? Because I think they know it just is not right.

Its not even close. An average player becomes a superstar with a keyboard and mouse when you are playing against controller users. Its not even close. There have been cross platform games in the past where pc users go against controller users and it is a blood bath.

Thats why I think Microsoft needs to release an official keyboard and mouse. Its the only way to give honest users a fair shake. Or they need to implement technology for the next Xbox that will detect and not allow the use of keyboard and mouse.

Hahahahaha… sigh. Perfect time to make that particular absent-minded mistake.
Very classy ; )
“Blatant is something that is done in the open. I think very few of the keyboard and mouse users will openly admit it on this forum. Plus, it is not always blatantly obvious one is using a keyboard and mouse”.
It does apply to exactly what degree it is cheating, however. Either way, it’s a small point, I just thought it was an interesting choice

In this case, both being solely on the xbox, would aim assist and magnetism screw up the mouse aiming? I dunno if it would, but sense that stuff is added because of controllers I don’t see how it could translate to the mouse smoothly
I’ll say this. If you can buy a key board and mouse at a gaming store like Gamestop or other stores like Amazon or even walmart it’s not cheating. Those items are there for everyone to buy and it’s not like a modded controller in any way. People need to stop making excuses seriously either you suck or your good plain and simple.
But it is not that plain and simple. So to be good I have to go out and spend more money? Everyone should start on a even playing field and let their skill determine if they are good or not.
