I have a dream… well actually I had a dream, about Halo. (The number 1 sign you’ve been playing too much.) And in this dream, Spartans were jousting.
Each Spartan had a sniper rifle and was driving a mongoose. They were able to shoot and drive at the same time, which isn’t possible in Reach, hence it going in the H4 forum. Anyway, in the dream, the reticle was stuck in the center of the screen. If you wanted to adjust your aim, you had to adjust your steering. They were one and the same. The map the Spartans were on was a flat surface, with some ramps to vary the elevation and such. (In fact it was pretty close to the Rocket Race map we played during the Forum playdate, if anybody remembers that.) So there were lots of straightaways where two players could set up a charge at each other. Boom. Jousting.
Now, I would play the bejeezus out of this gametype. 343: make it happen. (please)
I didn’t say it was a bad idea. However, something like this should only be for Customs. Yet, instead of saying “I had a dream” making you sound like a weirdo just say “I have an idea.”
The joke aspect got a good laugh out of me, but you should work on your setup and delivery. 8 outta 10. Keep up the positivity, OP!
The idea, though, is interesting. Maybe if you have a small arms weapon you SHOULD be able to have some limited offensive abilities. Like firing a magnum out the side of a warthog if you miss your splatter, or firing backwards at someone chasing your mongoose in a banshee.
If I were a Spartan on a mongoose, and a ghost or a chopper was chasing me, I’d draw my SMG and fire backwards to give it something to think about.
Although, the idea, solely for jousting, doesn’t appeal to me personally, but who am I to stifle your creativity and say you shouldn’t have it? If you like the idea, more power to you! 9 outta 10, and I respect your candor.
I read the title and came in here expecting an extremely stupid idea. However, turns out that your idea isn’t too horrible after all and could actually be really fun if implemented correctly. Halo has always been about fun and interesting custom gametypes, so let’s make this one happen!
Oh, I’m definitely not suggesting this be put into matchmaking. Although, maybe for Action Sack… Anyway, this was just for customs.
On the subject of the driver having the ability to shoot as well (for regular matchmaking)… I’m not so sure. It works fine as-is. But yeah, this idea was just for customs.
Hey bro I have seen this as a gametype on reach your not the only one who loves jousting you can check them out there are a couple maps to choose from and it is great fun!

OMG OP i totally forgot about that custom game in halo 2!!! you have two warthogs and a sniper in each passenger. The pass each other and whoever gets the kill wins!
