Halo 4 isn't bad, some general pros and cons

I was gunna wait till the BIG title update to say something but too many people are saying halo 4 is just crap and i really disagree.I’ve been a fan since 1 (reach was my least fav. by far)and played A LOT of halo.I really felt disconnected with reach,it had some good things don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t halo and i and many others just weren’t feeling it…So I’m just gunna say a few general pros and cons and a few smaller things

Pros

  • Look and feel of halo 4 is Halo
  • The story is good (a bit confusing at times, but great set up for 5…please have the arbiter make an appearance, love that guy)
  • The music is REALLY good in 4,some of the best i think.
  • SO is really well done and a great idea
  • Keeping in stuff like System Link when so many others drop it or don’t even use it(people still use this feature,i wish more games had it.Myself and 9 of my friends did it 2 weeks ago with Halo4 and just so people know,we are of the ages of 28-34)

Cons

  • lack of many big playlist at launch (Doubles, sniper,SWAT etc) i feel really hurt the game in the long run
  • lack of a RANKED playlists at launch
  • lack of a CLEAR visbile ranking that is rewarded by skill/wins or just wins and NOT this you get rewarded for just playing the game.(sorry but it is important people.Everyone and there brother was trying to get a 50 general ranking in halo 3)
  • A lot of small things that worked in past halo games like the “X” above you when you died, social and ranked playlists for ex. etc should be left alone.Like the saying goes,if it’s not broke, why fix it
  • DLC maps should be be MANDATORY in RANKED playlists like in halo3.We pay for these new maps and HARDLY ever get to play them unless your in the DLC playlists only which honesty just isn’t right.I want to play all the maps with variety you know

Now i know there are a lot of little things you could put in for PROS and CONS but once again i was just doing a GENERAL assesment. Now i know alot of the cons are and will be put in/fixed,but honesty it’s too late to bring back a lot of the fans for this halo anyways partly due to peoples lack of attention span these days, lol It will get some and if it’s done right word will get around and some people will come back or will more likely want to check out Halo 5 for sure but i can’t stress enough that having in a lot of these things at launch is important. It keeps people engaged, being active on forums etc right off the bat and thats what you.Even if a person doesn’t like things in say the Doubles playlist, they will still play it and be more likely to go online and voice there opion which is keeping them engaged and wanting to play more.See what i’m saying here? Yes it’s great of you to add these things and listen to us fans, but If it’s not in or takes a while to get in,a lot of those people have already moved on i’m afraid to a other game. All this being said,Halo 4 isn’t a pile of crap or terrible by anymeans at all.Live and Learn 343,if you can do that, thats all one can ask/hope for.Keep up the good work

> - The story is good (a bit confusing at times, but great set up for 5…please have the arbiter make an appearance, love that guy)

The story was barely explained, the characters were decent but only served to make Chief look good and this great Ancient Evil 343i hyped up was pathetic. I just don’t see what was particularly good about it. The only good thing was exploring Chief and Cortana’s relationship, but that’s it.

I prefer the older tracks. Halo 4 doesn’t have bad music, but it just doesn’t feel the same.

> - SO is really well done and a great idea

The CGI cutscenes? Yes. The actual missions themselves? No.

I’ve heard some people praise the music but for the life of me I can’t think of one -Yoink!- tune from that game.

I’ll admit, hyping up The Didact (who isn’t even ancient) is a bit of a liet down but IMO he’s one of my favourite characters EVER in a Halo game. I just hope they haven’t killed him off already.

117, Nemesis and Revival are the only ones I really remember. Sacred Icon Suite 2 from Legends is still the greatest Halo track ever though.

Music was actually one of the better parts of Halo 4 for me. Such as 117, the build up of instruments from 4:30 really gave me chills down my spine as well as Arrival, starting from 2:15 gave me this big “I have to save the world” vibe. If only it was implemented better in the campaign, it would’ve really made a big impact on the whole atmosphere with the cut scenes being much more hard hitting and emotional.

Edit: Actually Revival wasn’t bad either from 5:30 until the end. It would make for a pretty badass and dramatic entrance…This remix of Green and Blue was fantastic as well… .

Well i said the story was good, not omg good, lol ya it needed some work i agree but the story wasn’t THAT confusing but yes it needed some more backstory which i know you get in waypoint in such but it should be in the game, but you even mention things like the cortana’s and the chief relationship which were good things so hence it was a “good” story, lol

well i really like the music, big fan, have all the soundtracks. The music in halo is great. I think the music over all in this game sets moods very well. The main theme should be back thought. Not sure why a form of it wasn’t in the title screen, but glad to hear it in the end end cerdit though.

SO - CGI yes,i agree, all very good. The actual missions i would agree with you on 1-5 but 6-10 i think are really good.

Well said, sir. The game has its cons but I never really issue with them the way others on this forum have. To reach their own., though. If I may:

Pro: strong graphics, dominion, extraction, forerunner tech, SO cutscenes, Majestic DLC, rail gun, SAW, armor abilities

Con: weak campaign storytelling+characters, no firefight, initial multiplayer maps

Both (I like conceptually but feel they need better implementation): loadouts, personal ordinance, BTB, commendations, armory

Just because I found a good thing in the story doesn’t mean the story is good as a whole. The podrace in The Phantom Menace was cool, but it still wasn’t a good movie. As for not being confusing, there are still people wondering just why the Covenant is back, who the Didact is and just what the -Yoink- the Librarian did to Chief.

6-10 still have the same copy paste environments and Episode 7 on the Infinity was exceptionally bad.

The story was confusing, but after watching so many Batman movies, I just accepted the Didact as part of the story, because I was used to the antagonist being introduced from right out of the blue. The Didact should’ve been better explained in the Campaign, not the terminals though. Also, many of my friends don’t watch the cutscenes, because after so much CoD, the story doesn’t really matter, just blow people’s brains out and get the acheivement. The Covenant was the biggest plot hole in the story. Even the one terminal meant to tell you they’re Storm Covenant doesn’t provide much insight on them. You only learn they are Storm Covenant in SpOps, but people barely play that after they suffered the pain of pressing so many virtual buttons.
