I don’t like it. It’s not a terrible game, but it’s not a good one either, a hollow shell of the Halo universe with the cream filling removed and replaced with something bland and tasteless.
It reminds you of Halo, but it’s not Halo. Nothing is “improved”, it’s just different, and there’s a great deal less of it too. The Prometheans are terrible enemies, not at all fun to fight. Their weapons are boring and uninteresting, and the game’s campaign FORCES them on you. The music is forgettable at best, you can mute it and not notice a difference. The new design ethic feels like it doesn’t even belong in the same evolutionary tree as Halo, especially the new Spartan IVs and Marine BDUs. The new multiplayer format, why try to be like Call of Duty; Halo was distinct, this is just depressing. Spartan OPs makes me miss Firefight, which I originally didn’t care for in the first place, but at least Firefight mixes it up a bit instead of throwing the same mission and recycled audio back at you. Worst of all the fireshare is STILL broken 2 months after release.
It also doesn’t feel worth the asking price. Content-wise it lines up more with ODST than Reach or even 3.
Again, I won’t say it’s a terrible game, it’s just not a good one, and what irritates me is that this is what we’re getting now instead of real Halo.

I agree. In my opinon Halo 4 needs these changes in no particular order.
#1. Ranked playlists #2. Obj. BTB #3. Power weapons obtained by map spawns not ordinance #4. Trash the whole AA system #5. Weapons dropped from fragged players should not despawn as fast #6. Smaller arena type maps
You’re living in the past then OP, I found Halo:Reach and Halo 4 to be the best so far. Do agree that of all the Halo’s that something about Halo 2 did make it outshine 1 and 3. Keep in mind. If a game doesnt change it stagnates. Look at all the “Doom” games, they were all identical and equally boring as nothing really changed except maybe a different weapon here or there and a “Slightly” different environment. Halo 4 has its issues, but all games do, 343i’s handling of it has been mediocre at best in some respects (Limiting Specializations to some regions was a bad move, as was no Online Filters to Local/Regions)
Just because you don’t like the changes doesn’t mean they weren’t good. I rather like H4, my favorite yet next to Reach. If you don’t like it, no one is forcing you to play. There are plenty of other games on the market.
I agreed with OP.
I started playing Halo in Halo 3 and they have just become progressively more disappointing from there. I am good, I was good at the others, but in this game there is little point being good as you can be on course to a perfection and someone will stick you, or quit (wiping away your sprees), and ruin it.
Reach wasn’t as bad as others have made out, the maps were on the whole god awful, but at least the gameplay required skill and there was some sort of challenge to reaching the higher levels.
Anyway, Halo 4 has come, I am now stuck on level 70 (as I live in the UK) without playing a great amount, and after less than 2 months, I am becoming quickly bored. I also agree with you in that Spartan ops is just terrible, there is no two ways about it.

But you know what saddens me most? Any difficulty below Heroic is practically nonexistent (even Heroic isn’t as compelling, I have never played a single mission on Heroic). I had dozens of reasons to play on lower difficulties in the trilogy. Now the only difficulty I bother with is Legendary and Legendary with some skulls on.

Because it occurs at the wrong times and/or loops infinitely.
Ever since I learned about how playing your own music gets rid of the in-game music, I’ve played Halo 4 with the music muted. Much more ambiance!

Agreed with everything except #4. There’s absolutely no need for this. It will hurt the game if they take away these new mechanics, there’s a lot of people that enjoy AAs.
All they need to do is have a set of playlists with classic Halo settings. That way, everybody can be satisfied.

Totally agree if there were more people like you halo 4 would be awesome. Wait more people like you are appearing on the forums and 343i listens to this community…so we can expect halo 5 to be good!..hopefully.

Well, COD used to be the game that copied other games, but it does look like it’s the other way now, every game copies COD now, well because it’s pretty damn successful.
I can’t really say much about Halo 4 at this point, since I haven’t played it that much yet. GF won’t give me the damn game until 24th.

yes, this game is a Fail for a Halo game more so then reach in my eyes… 343 wants to have halo be there game so in doing that they change the MM feel from halo to play more like COD … I own them both and I rather play halo… but if halo wants to be like COD might as well save $60 and buy the game that gets it right and stop buying halo …
A sad day when I been playing online and putting Halo on this high pedestal for so long to have to say this game is not worth the money.
