343 will lose alot of fans if they dont start sorting things out…maps are boring, and mid game joining pisses me off so much sort it before you make more.
Agreed. Better gameplay, better maps, better matchmaking, better ranking system, better customs. Even better campaign. I can’t in any way possible see anything that Halo 4 does better than Halo 2. If they did not shut down XBL for original xbox games, I would still be playing Halo 2.
I loved CE, hated 2, loved 3, Reach got better with time and 4 also got better with time.
H2 had good maps though.
Can’t we all agree that we are just bungie fans and that everyone blame 343 because they are “new” ? and that they just want the game to go in a different direction and not stay the same.
But anyways Halo 2 is awesome grade awesome

I am not a Bungie fan. They failed to get Halo 3 to reach its potential and they absolutely destroyed Halo Reach. I was thankful to 343 for fixing Reach. I find it weird how 343 could fix someone else’s game but then can’t even get their own game right.

It’s harder to start from scratch than work with a working engine and assets.
or how i should say it.
hahaha…no.
Obviously Halo 2 was better than Halo 4, but this statement has already been established by the other 14,000 Threads that bash Halo 4.
However, people that complain about excessive aim-assist/bullet-magnetism clearly haven’t played Halo 2 before.
I read people saying that halo 2 was the worst and halo 4 the best.
Halo 2 had vastly superior maps. Most of Halo 4’s maps are very bland and only feature two levels at most, with few trick jumps. The maps in this game piss me off so much, words can not describe…
Halo 4 arguably has better combat mechanics. Halo 2 had broken melee, crotch-headshots, and insane homing sweep-shots.

343i is way ahead of you and your troll thread. They’ve sorted a lot of things out, admitted to mistakes and are hard at work on their next Halo title.

I don’t think 343 made Reach better. It was a perfect game until they messed stuff up. Infection for a big example.

Someone forgot about armour lock.
In terms of campaign/multiplayer maps, clan support, CTF/assault, soundtrack and launch playlists I agree Halo 2 was superior in those aspects IMO.
As for just about everything else I disagree. Halo 4 is superior to Halo 2 in most other departments e.g. netcode, no modding, no button glitches, no superbounces, graphics, CGI cut scenes, Spartan customisation, gunplay, movement, grenades, audio (in game effects and some soundtrack songs), punishing quitting, banning boosters, weapons balance etc.
To me the playlists and maps are a massive part of the online multiplayer, now that the mechanics of Halo 4 are really sweet it’s a shame the smaller and cleaner or objective asymmetrical style maps from Halo 2 aren’t present e.g. ivory tower, colossus, zanzibar, burial mounds, ascension, beaver creek, coagulation, elongation, lockout, midship, sanctuary, turf, relic and then BTB maps like waterworks or containment or headlong. To me I loved the maps of Halo 2, don’t even start me on the solo campaign missions like Delta Halo, Regret, Outskirts etc but the game overall pails in comparison to Halo 3 or Halo 4 mechanics and online fairness.
I hope the next Halo can really bring back the maps and encounters from Halo 2 with Halo 3 ranked vs. social and Halo 4 customisation/CGI/story/tournaments/gunplay. Throw in X1 features for streaming, recording, snapchat and hold online/LAN tournies as 343i are doing now and we’re gold for the best Halo multiplayer ever. Take into account the X1 Azure dedicated regional servers. Halo golden years may very well be upon us soon…

How did you hate Halo 2, I loved it. It was a great game IMO
I’ve been playing Halo 2 PC lately for the chievos, because -Yoink!- is pulling the plug on it soon for online play. I have truly rediscovered Halo 2. It’s just so pure. I think the multiplayer may be even better than H3, let alone H4.
H2 is the only campaign I skip levels in. So many levels just feel dull and like filler. Most of their objectives are just “get to point B so the next level can start.”
The all-mighty covenant that was built up in h1 and the books is largely torn apart by its own stupidity, as well as chief and a handful of marines + 1 frigate.
The graphics honestly age worse than Halo 1’s due to all the texture popping and blurriness.
Brutes are the most unfun charging padded sumo’s ever.
Halo 2 legendary co-op is a non-starter, as you both restart to checkpoint if someone gets sniped by a jackal.
My halo 2 disc is apparently really cheap, as its my only xbox game that no-long fully works. The level Gravemind no longer loads. Which is sad, because its one of the few good levels in the game.
The multiplayer may have been good on XBL, but in general h2 just didn’t appeal to me.

That’s how it works man. AAA videogame series almost always get worse as they go along. Halo is no exception.

Actually, Armour Lock in Reach is potentially the alternative to spawning with a plasma pistol and 2 plasma grenades in H4.
Vehicles like the Wart Hog should be re-named “double kill hog” because that’s what they are in H4. In Reach they generally survive 2 or 3 times as long and you can get a few kills with them too.
And Armour Lock in Reach is a defensive counter to splattering Ghosts in H4. It is really quite satisfying to see someone in a ghost come screaming in on me, then explodes as it hits my Armour Lock at full speed. For larger vehicles, they can get flipped over and then a couple of frag grenades thrown under the vehicle can take them and the occupants out.

A plasma pistol and plasma grenade wont stop a Rocket launcher. I think that was armor locks main issue.
As for Halo 2 and Halo 4 I think they’re both as bad as each other. These games are both designed to be perfected with their squeals.
