Halo 4 - Is it really Halo?

I love Halo 4, and I think it’s a great game, but at the same time it doesn’t feel like Halo to me. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t think this game plays anything like previous Halo games. The damage values seem to have been set to be more like Call of Duty. 40% of the weapons in the game kill in one hit now, where that was never the case before. You had the sword, the hammer, and the rocket launcher. Now, there are at least 5 other weapons that can take you down in one hit. Kill streaks and kill cams make me wonder, as well. This is a great game, but could anyone explain why the devs have went away from their tried and true gameplay for this… more ‘cod inspired’ gameplay?

… Yes. It’s really “Halo”.

What does the box say?

You are witnessing the phenomenon known as “Selling Out.”

It happens to all good things that go “mainstream.” Soon enough, Halo will be CoD and CoD will be Halo. The only “difference” between the two will be the title and some gimmick the game will “introduce” that tries to “separate” one game from the other. Naturally, this “gimmick” will be a complete failure (as we are witnessing with Halo 4).

Poke her face

How do you make that face btw?

Halo is going to be Halo to me as long as there is no ADS.

Its Halo 4, 343i’s Halo.

Just leave it at that.

Unfortunately, you’re probably right. I don’t think it’s a bad game because of it, though. It just feels strange. Even looking at the Spartans… they look like they’re more influenced by Crysis, or Deadspace than previous halo games :\

Also, that is the best title I’ve ever seen. “Master of Unicorns”

Feels like Halo to me. But the feel of a game is subjective imo as explained in another topic.

It’s Halo. Believe me, at it’s core, it is Halo. The only problem is that this time around, we have no voice in what happens in the game. That whole pre-H4 era of, “343i are us!” is long gone. Enjoy it for what it is for it will never be the same again, nor will it ever change to our liking. They got their money, why do anything now? (the irony is that I demonstrated distaste to those who spoke [typed] this way before me, and now I am one of them)

Needless to say, it is still a GOOD game, maybe not GREAT/CLASSIC/AMAZING/PERFECT but it is good (so specific!).

Ehhh. The think that irks me the most is the addition of all the instant kill weapons. It’s just a race to get them, whether that be from their loadout (Boltshot), or from their kill streaks. It’s still a great game as you said, it’s just different.

It’s the Halo of all Halos…

I guess it does not matter if a game stars or is set in the franchises universe, no the only way to tell is if the person likes or dislikes the changes. That’s the only way to tell if a game is part of the franchies. Well that’s good now I can say sonic 06 is not a sonic game because I don’t like it.

Know what does matter? Who it’s made by.
