343 has done a lot of things right with Halo 4 compared to Bungie’s last “Halo” game, you know that one that shall not be mentioned?
Here’s what was done right:
-
Base player traits are back to the way they were in Halo 2/Halo 3. aka movement speed, strafe, and jump height.
-
Weapon balancing places weapons into a key role. aka Assault Rifle tears up CQC combat and is a good weapon for once.
-
Pistol is back to being a great weapon to have.
-
Beat-downs feel right.
-
Almost the complete absence of bloom.
-
Vehicles are well balanced and can actually take some heat before exploding.
-
Base gameplay just feels more like Halo.
Now that we have that bit out of the way lets move on to what I and some of the community sees that needs tweaking and/or improving:
- De-Scoping needs to come back. It’s causing for most maps to turn into long distance battles because players are no de-scoped when hit.
- Boltshot needs to be taken out of the Secondary Loadout Selection. Camo and Boltshot are too powerful for a starting Loadout.
- BTB needs a Classic playlist without Infinity drops. It’s suppressing the use of vehicle gameplay besides the Mantis on maps like Ragnarok when everyone has a power-weapon.
- DMR needs less auto-aim range when scoped. This would force players to move in closer and thus make gameplay faster.
- Join-In Progress needs to have limitations/cutoff point. After the first say 2 minutes as a example. This is leading to joining into games where the enemy team is spawn trapping. Not fun at all to get placed into that.
Please take in mind that these views are subjected to my opinion and the opinion of forum posters that I have been listening to. I wanted to compile a list that showed what 343 has done right with Halo 4, and some suggestions to improve the game. I see Halo 4 as having so much potential in being one of the best Halo games. Much more so than Reach.
Hopefully 343 is keeping a sharp eye and listening to their vocal community
