Because I am already about to sell my copy due to boredom. Typically I could always rely on Halo for it’s multiplayer longevity.
What’s the problem? I can sum it up in one simple word- DMR.
Before you call me a noob you should understand that DMR is actually my favorite weapon in the game. I love long range combat- I love sniping people from afar but I would never encourage destroying all close range combat in Halo to satisfy the DMR users like myself because that simply gets stale and boring.
I’ve noticed that using any type of shotgun or rifle is pointless in comparison to the DMR. The only person that can kill me when I’m using a DMR is another person with a DMR.
If someone is lunging at me with a sword- I laugh. If someone is around the corner with a shotgun- I laugh. If someone has an assault rifle or a suppressor- I laugh. Why? Because of PROMETHEAN VISION + DMR, this game is a joke. Your chances of reaching me with a close-combat weapon are slim to none.
It is almost impossible for someone to surprise me. You could get ACTIVE CAMOUFLAGE but risk being useless all game because PROMETHEAN VISION is clearly the only useful armor ability in the game combined with DMR you are pretty much unstoppable.
I tried having some fun and switching things up a bit- I used ACTIVE CAMOUFLAGE with a Suppressor in order to attempt some more assassination styled gameplay. It was pointless because the maps are simply designed for DMR in mind.
I seriously think the developers just said "Hey, should we balance mulitplayer? Nah- that’s too much work let’s just design the game around DMR the same way Gears of War 3 was designed around Sawed-Off Shotgun.
Why is this poor development being accepted by the fans? Is it really not clear to anyone else that the DMR is OBVIOUSLY by FAR the strongest gun in the game. Hell- I prefer using a DMR over a sniper half the time because hey it only takes 2-3 shots across the map to kill someone- why bother wasting your time rushing that sniper rifle? If I don’t get a headshot with a Sniper Rifle it’s not a kill anyway so it’s basically just a DMR. Maybe if the Sniper Rifle was more like an AWP from Counter Strike and was 1 shot but the reality is the DMR gives me everything I need and that is BORING!
Please BUFF all close-range/combat weapons in Halo 4 and make this game interesting. I want to be scared when someone is approaching me not laughing at how easy it is to kite them and burst them down with a DMR every single frickin time!
Only gun I really use. Assault rifle and Battle rifle suck in my opinion. Sniper is mehh. Might as well use the DMR like you said and I really do not like the Promethean weapons. Only the DMRish one. Go figure. LOL.
Ok. Are you mentally ill? Halo 4 does NOT revolve around your DMR and your noob vision. If you wallows around a corner with a DMR and I had a shotgun, I blow you halfway across the map and watch your pathetic noob blood go all over the floor. If you think halo 4 Is boring don’t use the DMR that gun is for noobs who can’t kill legitly

I disagree. While the DMR is sligthly better than the BR, up close it is completely overpowered by the AR or the Suppressor. And the Sniper is still far better for long range combat than the DMR. The DMR is what, a 5-6 hit kill? The Sniper is 2 if you don’t get a headshot (which headshots are extremely easy to get in this game).

I have no clue how anyone could feel this way, but hey, your opinion and I can respect that.
However, I just got done playing 3 straight games of Infinity Slayer on Haven and I was literally at the edge of my seat the whole time. It just felt like such a rush! THis is truly the Halo title I have been waiting so long for!
If I hadnt already played 4 hours straight and fingers numb, than I would play some more.
DMR like the BR is 5 shots kill. if your good that is. LR is 4 shots scoped in and 5 shots not. I dont know what you going on about saying the games boring. I for one am happy with 343 bringing back Halo. so to say. Halo 2 & 3. Still my faotite, call me nostalgic i suppose. But Halo 4 is a great game.
The DMR isnt over powered it takes just as many shots as other weapons. and actually the BR seems to be a lot off peoples weapon of choice. I use the DMR, and find myself switching to any weapon and still dominating.
As for PVison, Yes it does give one player an advantage to know where you are but if you pay attention to radar as avidly as i do you notice the person glowing when using it one making them stand out on your radar and also telling you this guy knows where you are so think fast. All perks are quite good non do i fint to useless aside from the jetpack but since reach that was stupid.
ig you dont like the game sell it, im sure someone would love to pick up halo for a little less money. My guess is you were an avid HALO:REACH player and are coming to HALO 4 expecting REACH but can i say on behalf of many
I agree with pretty much everything you said. To nerf the DMR when you can buff the other weak firearms such as the assault rifles would be stupid. That would just make the game even more boring. Part of the reason it’s boring though is the broken lag compensation.

It seems like the DMR shoots slightly faster than the BR, and since it has no bloom and equal damage, it is an overall better weapon. The DMR shooting just a tad bit slower should put the two weapons on a dead even playing field.

Hmmm for a second i thought i traveled back in time and was on the Reach Forums…
I started off using the BR on BTB, i found it didn’t work for me. So i switched to the DMR and all is good.
Besides, if they nerf a single aspect of it (like rate of fire, damage or accuracy) then it become useless. Then everyone will just switch to the Light Rifle and all we will see is “OMG LR OP NERF NAOW PLZ” threads.
