Halo is the reason I got into xbox. I played Halo 2 for tons of hours and I loved everything about it. I also played a ton of H3 and thought the game was awesome. It wasn’t as good as H2, but I still had tons of fun on it. I also played Halo Reach quite a bit, but not nearly as much as H2 or H3.
Reach just kinda lost the Halo feel. I mean Bungie had an (almost) perfect formula with H2/H3, and then they decided they had to change it, by adding pointless AAs and Loadouts. And then what happened with Reach? Oh yeah, the population declined and more, and, more Halo players switched to CoD/BF3.
Why did Reach fail? Because people liked Halo for the simplicity. Everything that was added to Reach ruined the simplicity of Halo. You see, almost every FPS now days is similar to CoD or BF3. Many people played Halo because it was different. It had a simple, fresh feeling to it. Halo doesn’t need AAs, or Loadouts, or perks, or Sprint, to keep people playing. It needs that simple feeling back.
When I look at Halo 4, I see yet another one of those BF3/CoD style shooters. In fact, the game almost reminds me of Crysis 2. In H4 there are loadouts, perks, hoppers for one gametype, ordinance, instspawns, and default sprint. Everything added ruins the simplicity and makes the game feel like another CoD/BF3 style shooter. Halo 4 is fun and all but it doesn’t have the Halo feel to it. I like the game, but I can see myself going back to H3 in the future to play a real Halo game.
I know, I know, H4 is still technically a Halo game and some of you guys might love it. But I just don’t see it as a Halo game. I understand 343i is trying to keep Halo fresh, but it doesn’t mean they had to change the game completely. Also, campaign sucked.
EDIT: Guys, I don’t hate the campaign, I’m just not a fan of the ending.
