Let me break it down simply into 3 categories
1-Campaign- Compelling story, is amazingly detailed, seals gaps and adds drama and spices up situations. New enemies, new situations, and missions.
2-Spec-ops-The most lacking part of this game, but enough to keep you entertained between Campaign and Infinity.
3-Multiplayer-Dumbed down multiplayer that allows anyone to jump in and play.
Final Note
After playing more than 5000 games in my life, there are about 100 games off hand I can say are much worse than Halo 4.
Everything you said is 100% haLo 4 is outstanding just as the first series is =)
Campaign wise -I wouldnt say it detailed rather I would wager that Halo 4 is right above Reach in terms of detail however it is still below the first Halo trilogy.
Spartan Ops- Great concept let down by bad design decisions and repetive gameplay and maps.
Multiplayer-Great to get into, not really anything to keep me though
Overall I would say Halo 4 is an good halo game, an Avarage 2012 game and a great first attempt from a new studio
I agree but you’ll get flamed for stuff like this and called a fanboy. Everyone that enjoys Halo 4 and thinks it’s a great game is labeled a fanboy by some of this community unfortunately…
It’s pathetic.
Halo 4 is not a bad game at all. Just a lot of the concepts and promises arent fully fulfilled… like file share and custom games. but other than that, it is a very successful game. i love the fast paceness of infinity slayer, love the new dominion gametype and cap the flag, but some weapons and glitches could still be fixed… like i cant stand playing spartan ops and getting continuously run over by my own teammates. -_-

New /= better
-Pelican, which was underwhelming with few enemies to fight and no unique guns (the Hornet had missiles, Falcon had 6 round burst and grenadier turret variant)
-Mammoth, which was underwhelming with few enemies to fight and you had to kill everything because it can’t do -Yoink- and there’s not enough marines
-Lich, which was underwhelming with few enemies to fight, not even a wave battle. Waves of vehicles is just frustrating. Exodus was so much more imposing
-Mantis, which was underwhelming since you could just camp from a safe distance and if you waited long enough on Composer, half of the Banshees end up stuck or below the level…

And to say that only 100 games out of 5000 games you know are much worse than Halo 4 sounds like you think Halo 4 is bad.

Dumbed down doesnt mean better or worse.

Yes, even if you admit that the game has it flaws. But still enjoy it for what it is, you’ll still get called a fanboy. I just have to remember that some people brains are the size of a snow pea.

Dumbed down does not inherently mean better or worse, but when it comes to Halo it should always be considered worse. This game is like a regression to Halo 2 mechanics. Halo 2 was great at its time, but not for 2012. Halo has previously always been a more skill based game and should not be a game any noob can jump in and be good at. That being said, I’m still better than the majority of Halo players out there, but every good player is taking a hit for the noob to be happy, which isn’t fair. Get better at the game, don’t dumb it down.
Spec Ops is garbage, and once it becomes paid, very few people are going to pay for that piece of garbage. So easy, so repetitive. Even if they do come out with new maps, its still lame. There is no punishment for dying to its just another noob friendly aspect to the game. The story and characters suck as well. ODST firefight trumps all as fart as that goes.
Campaign. Not bad as far as the story, but it was ridiculously short, and easy on legendary. The music was awful compared to Bungies. And emotion doesn’t exactly work well with Halo, just my opinion though

100 percent true! I wasn’t expecting Halo 4 to be as good or as fun as the other Halo games because I know that this is 343’s first game and it is hard. Their next game will be a lot better :).
The reason why people say this game is awful and what not is because they expected more from it. 343 is fresh and new so its reasonable to see some of these problems. In time though, this franchise will be a lot better.
