Halo 4 is actually a very fun game

But it’s just not a Halo game. At least not like the Halo games I remember.

Halo was always quite a skill based game. If you were a noob, you got pwned by skilled players and needed to put work in to compete and get your rank up. It gave players the incentive to work and actually get better. To put their noob strategies aside and actually learn to aim and co-ordinate their shots and out fire their opponents.

Halo 4 just seems like a random social arcade game. It’s really fun. The graphics are excellent, some of the weapons are really fun to use and it’s a great will to kill a couple of hours, but it’s just not Halo. It doesn’t feel like it.

It’s not close and personal enough anymore, it’s too random and I rarely feel challenged. It says a lot when I haven’t played in months and annihilate everyone in team snipers, team slayer and rumble pit with a few exceptions.

There doesn’t seem to be anyone trying anymore. It’s all just for the fun of it, not really for the competition, which is not what Halo was based on. Halo has always been a fun game, but there’s a time and place for fun and that’s customs and social matchmaking. On team slayer and BTB I want skilled opponents and for myself to be challenged. But all I get is idiots who don’t know left from right.

Welcome to Halo 4. Check out our official brochure.

Nah, really, I feel ya. The gametypes feel really random instead of skill-based. It’s nearly impossible to get competent and skilled teammates, either because the matchmaking system doesn’t work or such players don’t exist in Halo 4. The game’s pretty much unplayable for me for those two reasons.

Multiplayer isn’t fun anymore because:

The weapons are imbalanced.
First we had the OP DMR and “yoink” boltshost, now we have the OP “yoink” BR and a lot of underpowered guns.
The Magnum, plasma pistol, suppressor, pulse grenade and the concussion rifle are underpowered.

The kill times are to fast.
If I want to play a fast paced game, I play cod (because I enjoy that to), but it doesn’t belong in halo just like the perks.

And the skill gap is way less than in previous halo’s because there is a lot of aim assist and magnetism.

But Campaign and Spartan ops is good but I’m done with it because I completed all missions on legendary and mythic(campaign).
Forge was a improvement but 343 left invasion out and I loved to make invasion maps because I could make my own story for missions.

And armor doesn’t need a explanation.

S’funny how many posts complain about the lack of skiiled opponents. Really, you Halo gods should all get together.
OP - have you played enough to raise your CSR so you will get matched against Vector0?
So, do you think the matchmaking isn’t up to scratch?

P.s. I agree, h4 is a fun game.

I believe most complaints about skill matches have to do with unskilled teammates, not opponents. Truly, the game likes to match a skilled player with unskilled teammates, seemingly to balance each other (this is very apparent in Team Doubles). Unfortunately, this causes very one-sided matches. Especially in win/loss based CSR playlists such as the upcoming Team Slayer, it’s very difficult to rank up when you have bad matches pulling you down.

> The kill times are just right.
> If I want to play a fast paced game, I play EVERY HALO BESIDES REACH (because I enjoy that), it belongs in halo.

Fixed.

Dual wielding needs to come back and armor abilities need to go, tada, a halo game is reborn. Also, the armor options look ridiculous and don’t make me feel like a space soldier but rather like a swamp monster which has black holes as eyes.

Welcome to Halo. The point of it all is that the weapons ARE imbalanced so you can leverage small differences in equipment for TREMENDOUS gameplay advantages. “Power weapons” are the best example of this, followed by the CE Pistol. As much as we might say we want a balanced game, such has NEVER existed for this franchise (Halo Wars was probably the closest we’ve come.)

Personally, I check myself whenever I start to make an argument about what belongs in Halo. That presumes a hell of a lot and you can ultimately boil it down to a historical argument about what’s typical for Halo. But for certain gameplay elements (like slow, awkward, and clunky combat which we are still dealing with in a marginally reduced form) being typical is no justification, its simply a statement that the problem has persisted. It may even characterize the franchise, but that’s certainly no reason to avoid meaningful change.

> And the skill gap is way less than in previous halo’s because there is a lot of aim assist and magnetism.

And again I’m going to say welcome to Halo (aren’t I fun…) People were making these complaints about Halo 3 when that stands now as the least sticky game in the series. And they’re just as meaningless now as those complaints were then because there’s a hell of a lot more to skill than just how finely you can move the right stick.

> But Campaign and Spartan ops is good.

And I WILL agree with you there. I think the lesson of Halo 4 is that we’ve all got the wrong idea of what Halo should be. It’s been a multiplayer focused shooter since Halo 2, and just about everyone has been trying to force 343’s work into that same mold, but everything about Halo 4’s life after launch is screaming about how much more potential there is for campaign/co-op to take prominence over multiplayer in the next game. Its not only good, not only fun, but all that in spite of the limitations imposed by a bloated multiplayer mode. Couple the opportunities of the next gen with better priorities and we might just end up with the strongest Halo in the series.

Its still halo. I can do all those ninja jumps, jumping and firing and all the rest.

I had lots of fun earlier mostly beating these guys at rumble pit. Trying to strafe, outskill my opponents with my larger skill-damage weapon.

I will respectfully disagree and then leave this thread after posting.

Halo 4 feels like halo to me. This is probably due to the fact that how i define halo is different compared to you and most people on the forums. Regardless I know how halo 4 is different then other halo games but i still feel like i’m playing a halo game.

Another reason i am enjoying the direction halo is going is because IMO i’m feeling more and more like a spartan. As a rule of thumb i’m usually for gameplay over realism or anything else. But in my later years of halo i’ve wanted more of a spartan experience then a simple balanced one. (i still feel MP as a whole is balanced IMO)

I feel that while 1-3 was loads of fun it was very limiting as a halo universe experience. 343 seems to be throwing those shackles off but make sure something isn’t too over the top.

I will end the post with how i define/what i expect from halo: I have always viewed halo as unique. In the sense that one could make his own experience on the MP field or by making his own maps and gametypes. I always expect halo to go over the top and blow my mind with each new game. So far that has held up. My expectations are not high. As long as they add something i would have never seen coming i’m satisfied.

Have a good day sir.

Funny not trolling but im actually better at halo 3 for some reason. The sniper and br in halo 3 is way easier for me than halo 4s.
