Halo 4 Is a Mix of COD & Halo [Nothing New]

My List of CONS

I do not like Infinity Mode (Though I Think That The Idea Is Pretty Interesting for a Halo Game).

My List of PROS

I think the control scheme in this game is great.

Here is another review to look at.

I have a joke for some of you guys.

What do you get when you mix a COD Fish with a Halo Fish [You Know The Answer {I Know That This Joke Was Not That Funny}].

I think that this game is a good game despite the fact that this game has elements from Call of Duty and one of the only problems that I have with this game that I think makes this game Unoriginal are the elements from Call of Duty and my only other problem with this game was the aesthetics of certain parts of the game such as the UNSC Loading Screens.

I don’t go by reviews, I’ll make my own decision on whether or not I enjoy something and that’s what matters.

I don’t see how Halo 4 is anything like COD, it still revolves around the golden triangle, there’s just a bit more filler nowadays.

EDIT: On a side note, what is this thread trying to accomplish anyway?

Don’t bother.

People will come in and scream “ITS NOT COD!” despite the game having explicitly borrowed so many features from that series.

Also here is rankinaarons review

> Here we go, I’m gonna try and be as honest as I can about this. I am a Halo fan through and through. I have been playing since Halo CE. I’ve bought every Halo game there ever was (except Halo Wars). I was playing Halo 2 with friends at LAN parties with 4+ xboxes for hours on end. I have also been playing COD pretty extensively since COD 4 (Modern Warfare). I was tenth prestige in the first modern warfare and 7th prestige in the 2nd. Just giving my credentials in order to show that I have a pretty well formed opinion about Halo 4. Let’s be honest, Halo 4 is Halo at it’s core with a hefty amount of COD mechanics thrown in. Things brought to Halo 4 directly from COD: instant respawn, custom weapon loadouts, an experience and currency system wherein items are unlocked with XP, but have to be purchased with currency (taken from black ops), dynamic player joining (and no penalty for quitting), sprint as an inherent ability, “ordnance” (strike) packages (even two of them just like COD). Default controls for Halo 4 are the exact same as COD (left thumbstick click has been crouch for every single Halo except this one). The spinning UNSC banner hologram you see during loading screens is a direct copy of the loading screen in the modern warfare titles. This isn’t conspiracy bullsh*t, it’s blatant parallels between the games. Anyone who has played both Halo and COD will say that Halo 4 is a combination of the two, most likely to draw in players from both crowds in order to maximize profits for Microsoft. Finally (spoiler alert here) the final “boss” (bahahaha) is a supremely dissatisfying quicktime event, much like the endings of pretty much all of the call of duty games.

> My problem with this? NO INNOVATION WHATSOEVER. Copied game mechanics, that’s it, nothing more. So we get a compromised version of Halo, which used to be a competitive even playing field, but is now a cushy “everyone can have fun, even if you suck” title. I regret to say that I’m probably going to return (sell back to Gamestop for 1/10 the price) Halo 4, as I have no motivation to progress in it’s multiplayer system, because I feel like I’ve played the same system 20 times over with the Call of Duty franchise.

COD isnt the first to it either, yes halo 4 has many shared features with COD etc. but it doesnt make it COD etc. does it?

Perhaps not but it certainly doesn’t make it halo either.

But it still is, using your logic the equipment in halo 3 makes it not halo. Halo 4 has the dame shooting, movement (except sprint), strafing, weapon, vehicle mechanics which all make it a halo game. It plays like halo with a few new features, some good, some bad.

Equipment is a new item that I can just delete off the map at my leisure.
Sprint is a fundamental change to the game.

Oh my -Yoinking!- god I want to throw up after this game of Infinity Adrift I just played. People sprinting around spamming assault rifles and plasma grenades everywhere.

Anyways, no. Significantly less emphasis is put on strafing and movement and vehicles are pretty much worthless, the guns are much easier to aim, and ordnance completely removes any remote amount of balance.

The last time I checked Halo wasn’t a chaotic mess

The reason why I started this topic was because I wanted to see what your opinion was on what this guy said and on Halo 4 in general.

I see halo 4 being bad at being different which I agree with you on. But it still plays like a halo game at its core (despite the chaos)

These things can be fixed in the next game is what Im saying along with halo 4 still being halo beneath all the chaos.

Here’s the argument I’m making lately, previous halos were already too hard to begin with. I play Halo 4 and think, this is pretty easy but it’s still tons of fun because of that. People say sniping is really cheap because you can’t get descoped, but I always say well when I look at other halos vs Halo 4, sniping was hard enough with descoping. That’s why people put sniper clips in montages and -Yoink- because it was a really damn tough thing to do.

Makes it less Halo and more CoD.

Nobody said CoD was first, it made those features popular. Do you think we’d see those features in Halo if CoD wasn’t as popular as it is?

Possibly,

personal ordinance would certainly not and shouldnt be in halo.

Loadouts may be, but with proper tweaking they can be fixed to be more halo like, and have equal starts. Lots of people asked for it in a sense and many want it kept (dont reference population since it doesnt purely come down to loadouts)

Sprint would of possibly entered since fast paced things seem to be going well in the industry. It needs a lot of tweaking though, this I openly admit and support its improvement.

> Sprint would of possibly entered since fast paced things seem to be going well in the industry.

No, slowing the game down to make it easier to aim is what’s “going well” in the industry.

Not that that’s necessarily bad in and of itself, but let’s be honest here.

Saying Halo is like CoD because you can sprint is just the same as saying Halo is like Super Mario because you can jump high

Damn 343, I wanna play Halo not a Super Mario clone GAWWW

See how dumb, narrow minded and plain stupid that looked?

Anywho, i’m not going to let some random guy on the internet tell me if a game is good or not, it’s up to me what I think of it GAWWWWWW

> Saying Halo is like CoD because you can sprint is just the same as saying Halo is like Super Mario because you can jump high

And not listening to the rest of the stuff implemented from CoD directly to Halo is just ignorant.

> See how dumb, narrow minded and plain stupid that looked?

Not any more stupid than ignoring the rest of the features implemented directly from CoD.

> Anywho, i’m not going to let some random guy on the internet tell me if a game is good or not, it’s up to me what I think of it GAWWWWWW

You go enjoy the games you think are good, while others will enjoy the games they think are good and try to get i343 to get the Halo series back to where it was. Regardless if you think it’s good or not.

I and several others won’t let some random guy on the internet tell us that Halo 4 is on the right track.

Both are doing good. Plus your cocky attitude that your opinion is right by writing mine of as dishonest isnt appreciated. A split should happen for the next game since not all competitive people hate sprint and not all casuals like sprint either.

And go ‘halo 4’s population etc.’ it doesnt prove all that much since reach was still fairly popular and sprint was the most commonly used AA, plus other factors such as PO, lack of maps etc. all effect it as well so it isnt as accurate as people make it out to be.

> A split should happen for the next game since not all competitive people hate sprint and not all casuals like sprint either.

Can guarantee the vast majority of competitive players dislike sprint.

> sprint was the most commonly used AA,

When I’m playing to win in Infinity Slayer, I will use Regeneration Field.
I still consider it heavily broken regardless.

> A split should happen for the next game

Splitting the entire game in half based on one mechanic doesn’t seem feasible.

This again ?

I’m honestly glad that Halo 4’s population bombed when these changes were made. It shows that it doesn’t pay off trying to mooch off other businesses successes. Halo just like Resident Evil was doing just fine until they tried to appease to the CoD community. They should of just kept Halo being Halo aka a console arena shooter.

Brb, trying to find the point where I said Halo 4 is on the right track- oh wait, I didn’t!

And by the way, if you’re still saying it ‘stole’ features of CoD i’ll highlight the release dates of the first Halo First Person Shooter and the first Call of Duty First Person Shooter
