First off, I think it is awesome that 343 put together a free tournament with real prizes. Good stuff. But I’m curious what they are doing to prevent cheating in this tournament.
I just looked at the leader boards and can’t believe all those scores are legit. I played NONSTOP since the tournament started. No breaks to eat, nothing. Only break I took was a one hour nap. When the first rankings came out I was 320 or something.
Now I understand that some people probably figured out how to finish games quicker and what not, but the top guy has literally 3 times my score. How is that possible? There is no way he played longer than I did. Unless he keeps “deranking” to play crappy players and destroying them or something, I don’t see how that kind of score is possible.
Once again, props on the tournament, but the leaderboard is discouraging. First day and its already obvious I can’t compete.
Yeah I didn’t even bother with Infinity Challenge. It’s not worth my time.
I did come across a guy idling through games on the infinity challenge slayer playlist yesterday (which really pissed me off because our team lost because of it). People will do anything, and I don’t doubt that 90% of the “top” players in the tournament are cheating.
I’m pretty sure that first guy isn’t legit. All his games he is averaging over 1000. He has the same people with him and he is the only one getting kills. So that is obvious what is going on there. The next must be more legit. He is obviously playing and is good at it, averaging around 600.
I’ve been playing since Saturday at 12:01 am and not quite at that level, but I’m interested to see how far I get.
It is what it is. I’m sure 343i and -Yoink!- will see what these folks do, and won’t give that truck away to someone who is obviously boosting.
Don’t fret. Have fun and just be glad you have the time to play.

AFAIK, there’s been little to no moderation of the tournament to check for idlers, cheaters, boosters etc. I bet you that truck is gonna go to someone who doesn’t even deserve it.
Yeah. Checked out the top guys stats. 51 k/d ratio and 93% win rate. Obviously cheating. I’m sure 343 won’t give prizes out to anyone like him, but him and people like him have already ruined the tournament for me. Seeing the score on the leaderboards made me give up for a few hours. Already too much wasted time to stay in it. Still, fun idea. Hope to see him banned soon.
Spot on goats… top 5 are boosting experts!!! One of them has been doing since the dawn of time!! Infinity Epic fail!!! Especially since I as well, have stayed up just as long except my breaks were for ramen noodles.
Possibly the account is being played 24/7 by multiple people? I don’t know.
It would be worth their time though - take a month off work and play 24/7 and get a $40,000 car at the end which they could sell and split the money between them.
Probably more money than normal employment, I don’t know about American wages though.
Lol. I had that covered. I told my girlfriend I was going on deployment for a week and she was going to have to take care of me. She’s been making me meals and fetching me energy drinks. She doesn’t seem that disappointed it didn’t work out though

I’m pretty sure they’ll start at the top and do a very thorough check before deciding the winner - they’d never hear the end of it otherwise and they don’t want their first tournament to be remembered as a failure.

That’s what we have to hope for. If no background checks or inquiries are made, you can bet there’s gonna be a pretty big -Yoink- storm over -Yoink!-’s poor handling of the tournament.
For spartan ops, there was an old thread saying that there were no shortcuts this week in the chapters.
The top player in tier 2 has 217 games played (one off top score tier 1) and each game i’ve played has averaged out 10 mins (if it is a full game and no-one leaves).
best Conspiracy theory ever by a fren of mine
who play Reach but no H4 (go figure)
There is no car to be won.
There is no price.
Its all a gimmick.
The top players in watever tier they are could be an
employee of -Yoink!- and with some computer magic, the
staff cld just key in their ranking as top.
And no one gets anything. Just marketing exposure =)
Seems legit…
He mite be wrong and i mite to. Anyways lets enjoy the game as of now.
the wargames number 1 player is cheating and will be disqualified im sure because he breaks the virgingaming terms and conditions on their website. the number 2 player on the leader-board though is a halo pro strongside and his games seem legit.
I gave up and dropped out of the tournament b/c of that. Here’s the hilarious part, and i think what i did was right. yeah, there maybe someone cheating their way through the tournament with hours and hours spent just to be on top, however, here’s the drawback. For the truck, if someone wins it, i guarantee you, i can imagine their insurance going through the roof. That’s gonna hurt them. Spartan Ops, which i was aiming for, had someone in tier 1 with about 2100 games, and i was like, “how in gods name did he or she do that”. Here’s the drawback for that. “SKIP CUTSCENE”. Sound familiar.
