Since Combat Evolved, these games have been largely satisfying shooters. Halo 2, in my opinion, was a great sequal. Based on the constant set backs for the release, I did expect alot. Halo 3 was not quite as good of a story but ranked up with Halo 2 because of the unique introduction of THEATER. ODST introduced firefight. When the Campaign became boring, firefight was something to fall back on. Halo Reach was an outstanding game for it’s wide array of features. I will never stop playing it for how diverse the game has been proven to be. Not only are there tons of different game modes but there is theater capability for every mode. That is also including forge. As boring as it would be to go back and view yourself building a map, the capability, however, still remains. I bet there are people out there somewhere that have done this.
Now Halo 4. This game is incredible. New engine and graphics are mind blowing. In this aspect, I could not have asked for more. Bravo. However, This game is an ant under a boot compared to Halo Reach in terms of it’s current game modes and theater capability. It’s an utter disapiontment. I have put hours upon hours into the game thus far and for what? Yes there is a sense of accomplishment but not so much when I can’t go back and save my epic moments. For theater to only exist in multiplayer matchmaking is really just unnacceptable. I’m willing to bet that most people who play competitive multiplayer don’t even go back to view any of there battles.
This franchise began with the UNSC against the Convenant. Not Spartans raining hell upon each other. I became a fan of the game based on this overall scenerio. I do enjoy alittle bit of competition here and there but I only really care about my accomplishments in Campaign and firefight… or Spartan Ops, I guess. Nothing beats prevailing the onslaught of Convenant forces or now these Prometheans.
What I am really getting at here is that the game will be better if the theater is implemented for all game modes. While the game remains to be crippled in this catagory and as I have maxed out my rank, the disc sits in it’s case while Halo Reach has reclaimed it’s rightful place in my console.
Some suggestions for Halo 4. I’m not a proffesional but as a fan of the game since the first issue, here is my opinion.
Theater capability for all game modes.
Campaign Co-op Matchmaking for over achievers who like to help others
Hardlight Shield lacks speed. For example: Standing up from the ducking position and trying to pull up the shield takes for ever. Throwing a grenade and pulling up the shield takes for ever. Sprinting into trying to pull up the shield takes forever. Just about any action prior to trying to activate this shield is time consuming meaning your attacker has an advantage. Theres no point to having a shield that doesn’t fully serve its purpose. Blocking melee attacks dont work as well if you cant pull up the shield exactly when you press the button. If the Hardlight Shields responsiveness was just like the Thruster Pack, which is allowed to be activated under literally any curcumstance, it would be used much more and much would be much more effective. With the current capability of the Hardlight Shield, I keep my distance from enemies as it is nearly inaffective at close range with it’s delay to deploy after certain actions.
Assualt Rifle reticle seems to spread just ever so slightly too soon. Short control bursts are very effective but how many bullets to be fired in these bursts? Only two bullets can be fired accurately in burst fashion. I think it would be better to just add one more bullet before the reticle does dramitically open the way it does. I did not like the assault rifle in Halo Reach but the way the reticle opened was much more reasonable.
The Boltshot. Nearly perfect. However, when I reload it and am antisipating to charge up again immediately after only to discover that it is not actually charging up like it does most of the time is extremely frustrating.
I understand that the Fuel Rod Cannon is to be feared but it’s alittle rediculous the accuracy these AIs have with it.
Now this is just pushing it with expectation but expanding the capability of the thruster pack would be sick. Like being able to melee attack mid trust or or thrusting forward into a melee attack. I already do this but it’s not quite as effective as I want it to be. Melee during the thrust would be much better than having to antisipate exactly where I will go and then attack. ex. Some approaches me from the right. I see it only my motion sensor. Would they really expect you to thrust immediately right, turn 45 degress and sock em one??? hahaha.
I hope to see some changes soon. I have grown slighly bored of the game but if it had alittle more capability like reach it would spark more interest. thanks for reading my essay.
No way. Someone who actually likes Halo 4 for what it is and only has complains about reasonable and not so major problems?!??!
Anyways, I agree with all the things you said. Especially with the fuel rod…on legendary…my god. And…theater. I don’t know why it’s only for war games o.o

It’s not whether they can or can’t fix it, it’s whether they’re willing to fix it.
Totally agree with the idea of adding SpOps/Campaign theater at some point in the not-so-distant future. Considering some of the great fun moments I could capture in Reach/3/ODST, and similar moments I’ve had in H4 that I’ve been unable to save/make into screenshots, it’d be an absolute godsend.

look at this guys vid he gives great tips and tricks for AA’s
They were willing to create and put in team slayer pro the gametype that the same people who whined about custom game options wanted and thats like the lowest played gametype thing needs to go. Of course there willing to fix things and change almost everything in halo 4 to work with the community and i say almost because no were not getting rid of sprint and AA’s but when your trying to find and fix exploits and running into bugs and stuff on top of the Constant and i MEAN constant harrassment of people yelling at them for changes and stuff some of which has already been announced to be on the way. Whats the saying Rome wasnt built in a day ?
I still think the Hardlight Shield would be better if it could be deployed while ducking or being able to melee immediately after dropping the shield. Basic melee combat. If you are able to anticipate a melee attack, opponent strikes, you deploy the shield to block the attack and drop the shield and immediately respond with a melee attack. You can’t do this though because there is a delay when you drop the Hardlight Shield.
Agreed. It does take some time. but where can we see 343 responding to the community? Other than obvious changes we see in game. Is there a forum where they actually speak and respond to fans?
People will never stop complaining as there is always the wanting for more even when some say perfection has been met. There’s always room for improvement.
> 5. The Boltshot. Nearly perfect. However, when I reload it and am antisipating to charge up again immediately after only to discover that it is not actually charging up like it does most of the time is extremely frustrating.
No, Absolutely not… No… No… Just… No… Boltshot is not perfect… It is the worse weapon in the game… By far, to date, it is the most overpowered weapon in gaming, It is a Shotgun, Headshot Pistol. What makes this power weapon overpowered?
YOU START WITH IT
You shouldn’t get a one shot weapon as a starting weapon no matter what. It makes matchmaking unbalanced and unfair. it promotes camping, and it is meant for the whiny 12 year old brats who’s parents ignore the rated M 17+ ESRB mark.
THE BOLTSHOT NEEDS TO GO, IT NEEDS TO BE DROPPED FROM MULTIPLAYER COMPLETELY

> THE BOLTSHOT NEEDS TO GO, IT NEEDS TO BE DROPPED FROM MULTIPLAYER COMPLETELY
Agreed, mostly. It’s absolutely unacceptable that it has a longer range than the shotgun and the scattershot. Those are TWO POWER WEAPONS WHO’S ONLY PURPOSE IS TO KILL QUICKLY AT CLOSE RANGE and they’re worse at that job than a starting secondary weapon. If the boltshot were a weapon drop like the needler I’d be fine with it. But when you’re playing CTF and everyone on the other team has boltshots and camo, it’s a nightmare. An exercise in controller smashing.
I hate to say it, but no. There were a few problems with your OP, such as that the AR can’t really be buffed without the BR and possibly Carbine (I haven’t used it much) being buffed…
… but this I truly couldn’t understand. The Boltshot is outright stupid and ridiculous, not OK, not good, and certainly not ‘perfect’.
A perfect example of something overpowered, maybe.
I wouldn’t say any one weapon promotes camping. I personally haven’t seen anyone camping with the Boltshot any more than I’ve seen someone camping with a BR. I’ve seen more team camping than anything. I prefer run n’ gun though it does make for a very unorganized mess of things. The match starts and everyone just seems to go off in there own direction. Most aimless and others racing for power weapons. It seems so repetitive and pointless sometimes to even be playing MP in the first place.

You don’t notice anyone camping with the boltshot? Have you never played either Dominion or CTF?
