I’m in Melbourne mate. Sadly, so far no there is nothing in Australia to play Halo 4.
Neither Oz Comic Con or Game Masters had Halo 4 thread link. These were the two most likely Australian events to attract Halo 4. I don’t know of anything else with enough scale to warrant Halo 4/343i coming out.
I PM’d bsAngel but no word on anything for Australia. I can understand the corporate costs involved don’t merit the investment but it would be sweet to see before the game launch.
yea because we live so far away also.
Dude, I don’t care about playing the game early, so long as when the game ships we have a “local only” or “good connection” search option. Without either or these options the game is doomed to fail like all other console games. Take a look at Ghost Recon. A fantastic game that nobody in Australia is playing because we always get hosts from Spain.
Besides, we get to play Halo 4 a whole day before America due to the midnight release.

Again I totally 100% agree with you Neo K. Reach’s good connection filter is quite good and I expect it to remain in the Halo 4 build/engine.
I would like a toggle to enable/disable matchmaking parameters to widen or not the longer searching goes on.
Having that sort of player control over matchmaking filters will enable more international play and increased game experiences with less quitters too.
You could not be more right about the importance of this search option. Everything else in the game is less important that this aspect, it has the greatest impact on quality of game experience.

If you’re going to have a multiplayer game, you need a “local only” search option. There are some games it doesn’t matter, but for the majority it really is a big deal. I rarely play games that don’t have this option.
Look at Halo, I’ve always been playing those games as well as many others. All Rockstar games from GTA4 up to Max Payne 3, I’ve barely played those games past achievements. CoD games by Treyarch, played them quite a bit due to the option. CoD games by Infinity Ward, can barely tolerate the game at all aside from regularly quitting and trying searching again (although I can’t tolerate the franchise at all anymore). War for Cybertron, played that regularly back in the day (hopefully the next Transformers game is the same). Look at Space Marine, I can’t tolerate more then 5 minutes of it.
Americans like to complain about that 1 millisecond of lag, but they’ve never truely experienced lag like an Australian with a US host. When a game is launched without this option the forums are lit up with complaints about lag. Including this option (while it can be abused by Americans) pretty much eliminates most lag issues.

Have to say, I’ve matched up against Aussies before and the lag is just laughable, it isn’t enjoyable for both ways, when CoD World at War added the Local only option, it was a god send for anyone that didn’t fancy playing with users from around the world and just from their country.
Even though I’m from the UK, I’d love to see a local only option.
While I agree with toggles, e.g. good connection on/off, I’d like to more in terms of toggles or tiered filters.
Such possible options are:
Toggle strict search or widening of search parameters the longer you wait.
Local only or global on/off.
Latency parameters (first tier = 20-50ms, second tier as wait time increases = 50-125ms, third tier = 125-200ms. Then allow the player to dial these numerical values up or down.
Map toggles for which ones you like to play or not.
Gametype toggles for which ones your like to play or not.
Then match players from this criteria and minimal playlists.
Then further preselect the voting options to these maps/gametypes.
During peak times things will match really well, especially with map, gametype, party and connection matching etc.
New players or anyone who does not care for such settings use the default so complexity of these options isn’t really an issue or for the faint of heart players.
I firmly believe this type of system will minimise quitting while maximising game experiences both in terms of game outcome closeness and networking conditions.
it’s actually funny because we get new daily challenges at 8:00 pm for so we can complete them earlier. yea i would love to see a local only feature to play with some Aussies and have a halo BBQ and BRING IN THE SHRIMP!!

I preordered my LE edition at EBgames. They’re reliable, almost always a fair price and the Knox City store does a midnight launch too.
Until Reach, the lag involved in playing Halo was ridiculous. Unless you managed to find that one guy who would always pull host.
Woot knox city midnight launch gonna totally be there
Halo 4 is apparently playable at EB Expo, Sydney, this year.
I asked the EB dude around 6 times in a half-crazed daze, and he confirmed it every single time, and yet I’m still doubting with worry. I haven’t heard this mentioned anywhere else, and I don’t know if it’s a demo played by some official dude or something like that.
BUT AS FOR NOW, HALO 4 IS PLAYABLE IN AUSTRALIA!!!
There is a Sydney event called EBEXPO2012 hosted by EB Games (Gamestop for all you Americans). Halo 4, along with a large array of other games, will be playable.
