Iv’e seen a lot of Forge talk lately, and I have too say, i’m a little saddened. Mainly because everyone seems too want terrain editing, and I know that it would be a horrible idea for 343 to ever implement that, maybe something less drastic. But outright creating terrain- no. Fore is about using your imagination and going macgyver with the random forge pieces you are given. But I know I will get flamed for my comments, because nobody knows how to respect opinion around here…so, I have an idea that may suit your needs, but first, let’s see the actual list (1 being most-wanted, 5 being least, REMEMBER, THIS LIST IS MY OPINION):
Re-skinning / Re-purposing (The Anvil)
>Iv’e gone over this so many times, if you still don’t know it, let me enlighten you: Basically, this would give you the option to give a blank block/sphere or whatever a different skin, whether it be Oni: Alpha base themed, sandstone themed, or UNSC themed.
Better snap system (Includes grouping and copy&paste)
>“Snap” is the name of the system where a piece will seemingly magnetically attach itself to another nearby, to make building walls and sytch easier. It should be similar to the FC2 snap in other words. Grouping is the act of highlighting an area (maybe lasso tool?) and every unit in the highlighted zone moving as one unit. Copy&paste uses the same principle, but makes a perfect clone of the selected area.
Terrain pieces/Generation
>Okay guys, here’s my take on terrain. Basically, the forge comes with a set of terrain, we’ll use “Hill” as an example. There should be options for “Hill” such as “Stretch” and “Flatten”, so you can shape it the way you want. If you want too make a Death island remake, go ahead, just take a hill piece and stretch it for a few minutes till it’s ripe.
Vegetation/Painting
>Easy said, make a paintbrush tool that can paint vines and flowers on walls, decay or flood pods etc.
Just thought of something- how about 3 modes for Forge? “Rendered” (Looks like how the map will look), “Wireframe” (too see some objects better/skin them) and “Shade” (For painting objects/adding vegetation)?
I think it would be cool if 343 released some kind of separate program for PC to make maps, so they don’t have to completely change forge, but I do think they should add some kind of object texture option to forge.
What I would like most is to see small stuff like rocks and trees and stuff be editable and I wish that you could make (for example) a block and make it a whole even though u used several pices to make it. So if you wanted to make it you want have mess it up. Weather…l.nuff said. And like you said to be able to make certain objects certain origin looking things. Fix some tweaks, more options to choose from, bigger budget, larger forge world, etc. and you have what I want for Halo 4 forge. Otherwise same as reachs forge. Not the same forge world map but you get my idea. Forge world 2.0 if you may.
It’s probably too late to make big request. But I’m sure small stuff like this could be added. Considering 343 said they are all hands on deck and everyone is working on H4 now. Just makes me more and more exited for Halo 4.

Maybe not, but something people overlook is the fact they’ve been working on this game for 3 years. This game will be amazing, even if it’s not what we expect. I have no doubts about it, it will be the best Halo game made.

All of these ideas have already been said by me and other people on this forum.
