Halo 4 ideas: Liquids

I think it would be nice if you could add water/lava/liquid metal to an point in Halo 4 forge. If there’s too much liquid on the map that it’s making it lagg, make it less-rendered or something like that. But I would think that since a map like Powerhouse has a bunch of water on it, liquid shouldn’t be too hard too add. If you can’t add liquid, at least add some forge pieces that have liquids coming out as an effect or something.

Lava would be nice, everything else is meh TBH.

Liquid metal sounds awesome. Maybe acid/toxic sludge too?

Hold up guys, before we start getting more advanced ideas for liquids, let’s make sure that the liquid effect is actually possible, although acid sounds pretty sweet too tell you the truth
Also- weird suggestion, but if you change the color of the liquid, like green water or something, that would be grand. I’d love too make a Є themed map

Sorry. When you said “Liquid metal” I immediatly thought “Portal 2” for some reason. And from there I got acid

Either that, or just have a natural love for sulfuric acid :open_mouth:

It all depends on the engine if they’ll be able to have editable liquids.

If you want an option to add liquid. Then you probably want a terrain editor to. For it to work better.

Anyway I would like the option to have liquids.

Hell. No. Halo should never ever have a terrain editor, it would ruin forge completely, and make map packs pointless. I was thinking of having a source ball for liquid (similar to source blocks for water in minecraft and fortresscraft) and that it would leak into the area you made. If we could, let’s say, have more varied forge pieces, like flat grass, bumpy grass, and hill, then it would be a gem.

That would be awesome no doubt. But on the Reach engine and the 360 I highly doubt it’s possible.

Next Xbox?

How would it ruin Forge? It would improve it.

That would be a sick addition especially if there are water vehicles in the game.

Because there would never be a need for map packs, seeing as the community could probably make better ones with a forge like that. Terrain editing just isn’t Halo- Halo is about symmetrical maps, built from random pieces- works of art. You can make a gander of a view with terrain, but you can never replicate the awe that inspires people when they they see maps like Wizard and derelict.

Water with physics would be better left for the next-gen. Far too taxing on the engine with all that’s going on in a game. The water in the FarCry editor doesn’t use liquid physics; It’s static water that simply exists below a specific elevation.

You don’t see the ridiculously cool water from Valhalla show up anywhere in Reach, with good reason.

Heresy.

Name* one good map tat isn’t in some way symmetrical.

Lockout, Zanzibar, Ascension.

If it had limitations and not crystal graphics it would work fine.

You’re basing this off of what? I love how you’re making these assumptions but you’re not backing it up with anything.

> Terrain editing just isn’t Halo.

Can you please tell us what is, and what isn’t Halo then? You must know every thing about Halo then to make a statement like that.

Also how do you know it won’t work for Halo? We haven’t had anything like that yet. All we know it could be the best thing added into Halo.

> Lockout, Zanzibar, Ascension.

Lockout = Uses multiple recurring level design = symmetrical on paper
Zanzibar = point taken
Ascension = Uses multiple platform design = symmetrical on paper
