I love this game, but I’m having a seriously game-breaking problem. I dont know if its a hit detection problem or what, but it takes me sooo many shots to kill people. Using DMR, it takes me 8-10 shots, while everyone I run into takes me down in about 5. I’m getting destroyed even if I land every shot to the head and I engage them first. Then when I watch the killcam to see if theyre doing something different, they ARE MISSING MOST OF THEIR SHOTS BUT THEY REGISTER ANYWAY and kill me. Again I want to love this game, but this problem is literally destroying my enjoyment in every match. Am I the only one, will this be fixed???
Otherwise, amazing game 343. Best campaign yet.
The kill cam doesn’t actually show sometimes them hitting you due to lag or other issues but it serves its purpose that they are the ones who killed ya.
The dmr is a 5 shot weapon, the hit boxs are actually large but they been like that in past games.
It just takes some time to get used to i can 5 shot, you have to remember some people are used to the dmr from reach and with its tighter bloom and higher rate of fire they good with reach’s dmr they are gonna be only better.
Kill cam in this game means nothing. I have seen my killer spraying his AR with a red crosshair and I was out of the screen. No, it didn’t look like that to him, the kill cam just doesn’t show what really happened. Might have something to do with lag compensation or something, not sure.
However, someone correct me if I am worng, but I feel like I have experienced this same thing, but I think it has to do with bullet velocity and travel time? I think that Halo 4 doesn’t use insta bullets, so if you shoot directly at distant moving target with a DMR or BR then the bullets will land behind him. I feel like I have had more success leading targets, especially when they are sprinting or using a jetpack. Any thoughts from a more experienced Halo player?

Kill cams are broken currently. That is just the lag of the cam that is showing them missing.
In regards to your aiming, you may be shooting too fast, or think your reticle is on your opponent when it actually isn’t. Practice shooting a guest in a custom game while jumping around and strafe and you will get the hang of it. H4 is a pretty good netcode so I don’t think this is at fault of the game (not to say that for certain, but it’s less likely than the former proposal)
This will explain everything
Well I’m definitely hitting them. Most of the time they are right in front of me, and every shot I fire is hitting them, with the hit detection on the reticule going off. On midnight release I hopped on and it didnt have this problem, I was getting kills very easy in about 5 shots. Now I’m right in front of them, getting the drop on them while theyre completely still, every shot is registering, and they still kill me. My shots are registering if the indicator is correct.

I’m starting to think the same thing.

No you’re not the only one. It usually happens with a bad connection and I hate it too. I’ve experienced exactly what you’re talking about. Your bullets do little damage and on the replay you see your enemies reticle not even on you.
You can feel the difference when there is a good connection. I notice the connections vary depending with who I play with on my friends list.
…and no you don’t suck. Take that dude on in a LAN game and make him stick his foot in his mouth.
I wish and hope it’s fixable but this has been a problem with online gaming for as long as I can remember. Yes, it does suck.
I have seen the same thing as well. Sometimes I get more head shots than they do, but then sometimes i see that I do when they take me down and I think, ???

Wow! Had no idea.
That explains why you die when they miss, but what about when your bullets do little damage. You’d think with this hit box thing it’ll solve bullet lag issues, especially when you don’t miss. It’s not only me, I have friends who are pro status and they even notice the little damage done by their weapons in certain games with bad connection.
I think it’s just lag b/c i noticed this too OP… especially with the kill cams, it will look like the enemy isn’t even hitting you but kills you with just a couple shots
First of all, the “killcams” are not accurate, at all. In fact, due to their lack of accuracy, and how important every little thing in a situation that occurs on the “killcam is”, yet doesn’t, they should not even exist. They’re probably good in system link super-competitive games, but that’s it.
Second, hitboxes have changed, and, no pun intended, you will simply have to adapt. I’m also not too fond of the hitboxes, and it’s even hard for me to adjust, but considering I’ve been pulling a strong 2.3 kill/death ratio, I think I’m doing just fine.
I also just noticed Protomario’s video link. So, yea, that emphasizes what I said on the hitboxes in my previos paragraph before I even saw the video.

Its odd because my connection says its just fine. And now that I think about it, many times when I join a game with a friend of mine, the problem goes away. I guess my connection is off, regardless of what the game is saying. Wonder if theres something I can do.
