Halo 4 hints in Primordium

SPOILERS!
I finished reading Primordium last night and it gets very interesting with all of the information at the end. I think the part where the Captive explains that he is actually a gravemind and that the precursors are still alive and that the are waiting for the right time to strike and the part where Guilty Spark takes over that ship and says that he knows where the Librarian is and is going to her are, in my opinion hints into what happens in the new trilogy. What do all of you think, for those of you who finished the book.

by captive are you referring to the precursor prisoner aka the timeless one? cuz i read that the precursor and the gravemind may be link to each other and what you said makes it come together

In the book the Timeless One a.k.a. the Captive does say that the precusors created the flood so yes they are linked.

he is a prisoner, so don’t trust him. It’s possible that he connected to the flood when he was imprisoned so he could continue to have some sort of influence outside his captivity. the timeless one has been influencing the halo universe since the ancient humans interrogated him.

Not just linked he says, “We are the Flood.”

Does this mean ‘mass of flesh and stuff’ Gravemind is just a puppet they speak through or are Flood their weakened, derivative, or some task (i.e. collecting) forms (as ancient humans were also defeated by Forerunners and were ‘de-evolved’. Precursors were defeated by Forerunners and may have also suffered that fate. Perhaps the crab appearance is not their original form? Only difference being Precursors found a way to use their form to their advantage).

Good question. Since the “Crab” body was simply the accumulation of other infected bodies massed together it is safe to assume that the Primordial could have taken whatever shape he wanted. The other question is: what did he mean when he said that he was the last precurser of this kind? He said it just before he said ,“We are the flood.”

He’s means he is the last gravemind posing as a precursor. All the other precursor form graveminds are dead. He later says that the real precursors are far out of the reach of any forerunner. This means that they are well outside the milkyway.

(This is assuming Forerunner are still out there)
I think the new Halo trilogy will put Master Chief in the middle of a civil war of Forerunner. The Librarian and Didact I believe are both alive. And that is why the Humans were interrogating Chakas/GS throughout Primordium, to find out more information on the couple. I think some of the Forerunner believed themselves to be the bearer of the Mantle, but it is revealed Humanity was the true species to uphold it. This seperates people like the Master Builder and Lifeworkers, so Chief finds himself discovering more about the Forerunner themselves.
In the mean time the Covenant are involved some way, (not sure if they are an enemy or not). The Flood will definitely return and make matters worse. I don’t think any Precursors will be shown in the series, though I could easily see that happening toward the end also. I think something may happen like the Prisoner shows up again revealing more to the Master Chief and Didact. (Oh yea I think the Didact and Chief will work together) But that part wouldn’t happen until Halo 6, setting up new games for the Precursor trilogy.

All in all, im making assumptions as the story line goes for both the books and games. But its not that far fetched at all. We have seen Forerunner civil war, and the Didact would be the Arbiter of the new trilogy (starts out bad until common enemy)

Oh, so you mean a pre-Forerunner-Flood war Gravemind? I think I’ll get Primordium and check it out myself.

Sounds interesting. Didact as the new Arbiter of the series would be neat if it means we get to play as him.
