Okay, so the new Halo 4 Trigger Headset by Tritton. It’s $59.99. Okay, but if you visit Tritton’s official website you can get the same headset without Halo 4 art for $49.99.
So what, am I paying $10 for a brand name here? This is ridiculous.

It’s like that with anything, really. It’s just the way things are, dude.

The reason things are like that is because people bend over and take it.
Welcome to Capitalism.
> Welcome to Capitalism.
I thought capitalism was about people competing to make the best product and sell it for the lowest price to outsell their competitor, not working together as an industry and bleed your consumers dry.
On the same subject, why pay 400$ for a dated old video game system (xbox 360) with a Halo skin, when you can get a new 360 at around half that price, get a ton of better looking skins on eBay, and still have money for the next years 720.
Well, capitalism, greed is good, and the fans undying support/ability to spend money on just about anything with the right brand/name on, no matter how expensive. It’s all about the money ^^

Ding ding ding. This guy knows what he’s talking about. It’s ridiculous the practices big businesses can get away with these days. Especially since gaming is an ever growing industry and one of the most lucrative out there. A lot of kids will just chalk it up to their parents credit cards without second thought. Things like this, overpricing dlc, and generally nickel and diming gamers makes me shake my head. It’s sad not many people care either. Good on you, OP. +1
Lol. I literally just bought the Triggers on Sunday. Works great BTW.
And of course, this price is only higher because of a $0.50 paint job. For some reason, adding even the tiniest logo or paint will make the price rise drastically.
Ill give a good example. I can go into a top name clothing store like aeropostale or American eagle. I might find a shirt worth $40. However, if I go to a lesser store like old navy, I can find almost the exact same shirt, except it costs half the price. So basically, I’m paying $20 for a logo that means absolutely nothing.
EX.2- I saw a school uniforms at the store the other day. Every clothing store is selling these things right now. I remember seeing one high-end store where the shirt alone costed about $30. At another store, I saw shirts that looks the same, felt the same, and were made out of the same material, yet they sold for only $18. What was the difference you may ask? The cheaper shirt was generic-brand, while the other was from a high end retailer, and possessed their name on the tag and a logo above the heart.
And the thing is, these tiny, insignificant patches of thread only cost more because we LET them cost more. Prices are built solely off of supply and demand. Because people want a certain item, they are willing to put a bit more money up for it. Companies take advantage of this, and milk their products for all they can get. You want to know how much it costs an average tailor to make a cotton shirt? $3-$4 and a day’s work. they then sell it back t the public for 5 times the price, and people actually BUY it.
The same goes with the game industry. video games used to sell for about $40 on average. then they moved up to about $50, (the difference of $10 is about another meal for the average person). Nowadays, we let it get as high as $60, for just a laminate disc with grooves in it, a plastic casing, and a little paper book. However we buy at this price because the companies know they can sell it to us at that price. They don’t necessarily NEED all that income, but any way to get more is good for them.
The only way prices could ever be lower is if people realized they could do without these small things, and go for the basics. Its all the same really, but a name brand will make a $2 product $10, just to print its name. Capitalism may be preferable to communism, but it is in no way perfect.
Why doesn’t the Xbox controller support regular headphones? Instead of shelling out money on a headset, I could just plug in my Beats (sponsor!) and get the same effect, but for some reason, a regular headphone jack won’t fit into an Xbox controller.
They aren’t getting my money.
> They aren’t getting my money.
343i? Typically how this would work is Tritton would agree to take a smaller cut of the profit than usual because the Halo 4 logo will sell them more copies.
Im hoping they actually release the Halo 4 Tritton Warhead version. Then I can get rid of my old Turtle Beach X31’s and get Halo 4 Headset.

That was done on purpose so you would have to buy official Xbox mics.
Yep, about all we can do is wait for the price to drop. Halo 4 Warheads are nice, but not yoinking 300 dollars nice.

$300 is a steep price for a headset. You can count me out on that one.
The thing is, they know people will want it. They bleed you a little more because they know people will want to particularly buy it.

Santa doesn’t like me anymore. Besides, I want the headset now.

This, however there are ways around it.
A lot of older cell phones used the same size jack as the xbox. Becuase of this, you could use any old wire bluetooth(or if you were “fancy” a full on headset) and plug in into your xbox controller. I would know, as my very first xbox mic was for an old nokia phone.
Another way would be to use you everyday PC mic(assuming you have one) and spend the $10 on a adapter kit for xbox/PS3. this way you only ever need 1 mic, and it can be used on all of your devises. This would make investing in a high-quality mic more worth its value…
I have 2 general rules about buying any electronics. Try not to give money to microsoft(buy from secondary sources like MadCatz if possible) and don’t feed the even more greedy company of EA. I make sure to by from secondary sources, just prevent microsoft from getting my money for their mediocre products.
