So I think I’m going to get the Halo 4 Tritton Trigger headset and the Controller with the changable D-pad. Anybody have any experience with Tritton Triggers or transformable D-pads? I have never used a gaming headset before :p. Who else is getting one or both?
I have a different gaming headset (Turtle Beach X12s with DSS) and it is yoinking AWESOME! You can really pick up on audio clues, for example a rocket incoming, and avoid the danger. Also, the sound being everywhere really adds to the immersion.
Sweet I can’t wait!
I was wondering the same about the headset I might get one, and while Ill be getting 2 controllers with the changable d-pad from the LE console, I dont see the point of it. I read its good for sweeping moves but I cant think of a single game were I do sweeping moves with the d-pad.
I was curious about the headset. Is it worth getting if you already have surround sound in your room?

Well the standard D-pad is just awful because of the way it moves. I don’t see this adding much for Halo but for other games I play like The Elder Scrolls and Half Life, the D pad is used a lot. The transformable D-pad makes it more like the Playstation D-pad where it doesn’t move like a disc and it’s a simple up, down, left, right button

The headset offers closer-to-ears sound so you can hear everything better but if you have surround sound (this model doesn’t, it’s just stereo sound) then I wouldn’t worry about it. Tritton does have high-end Dolby 5.1 headsets that I’ve heard nothing but good reviews about though.
I’m sure somebody with more headset experience will give you a better answer.

This is a good point I plan on getting a surround sound soon no point in gettinng both I dont need to.
Sweet, didn’t notice the Halo 4 Controller had a changeable D-Pad. I’ll definitely pick one up, because my Reach one just got really screwed up a few months ago.
I would stick with the + D-Pad at all times. Feels much better, and way easier to control.
As for headsets: I’m not sure if Tritton has a good reputation - of course it will sound nice, but I am skeptical if it will be worth whatever price. I’ve stayed with Turtle Beach X11s (didn’t get X12 because I was being cheap) for a while. I hear Astros are good, but before Halo 4, I never heard anything good about Tritton.

Tritton is apparently one of the big three, I’ve heard that Tritton headsets are better quality than Turtle Beach. I’m guessing that Turtle Beaches are the Beats of gaming headsets, sure the sound is good but the price is way higher than it needs to be and there are better headphones for less money.
